I'm experimenting with both hand-built and slip-cast pieces in porcelain. Should prove interesting.

Don’t forget to put a small hole in the side wall or base otherwise it will probably explode in the kiln as the hot air inside has nowhere to go. I learned that the hard way

Your videos are really great. I use the techniques with my students. Question: Don't you need to put a hole into a closed shape? So that it does not explode in the kiln? Greetings from Germany.

Oh yes always put a hole in a closed shape! I think i forgot to mention this 😂

I’m loving your videos! I’d love to see exactly how to do the refining! I’m trying to teach myself pottery at home since everything has been closed. Lots of love from Australia!

Thank you, I’m so glad you are enjoying them ❤️ the refining starts with a surform (cheese grater type thing) and metal kidneys and sponging - anything you can do basically to tidy it up! 😊 happy potting!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Is there a reason you put the outside wall on the outside of the circle rather than on top?

Hi there, i just find it easier to press it against the side of something rather than try and press down on a vertical slab... 👍🏼

That tool you can`t remember the name of .. the "bevel tool" . Have you remembered its name ,or can you say where I would get one? I can make one but encroaching laziness tips me towards someone else doing the work. (terms and conditions apply) In a varied career that took me at times into boat building ,the join you are making is a "scarf" joint.

Do you have to make a hole somewhere before you fire it?
@JaneScottCeramics4 жыл бұрын
Hehehe yes you do! I forgot to say that in the video... 🙀 i will probably be responsible for multiple explosions!!
