Hi man, first of all, very nice tutorial it helped me a lot getting better and its just way more fun to play with Slap Flicks than "normal". But I don"t know why, but i have a problem slap flicking so only one string is sounding. There is always the string underneath the one i want to play which is sounding with him. My question is, is it just a thing you practice and it will get better by the time or are there any "hidden tricks" to make it easier? keep on doing such good work, Greetings from Germany

It's definitely a keep-practicing situation. Check out this video again while you practice, you might notice something that you didn't before as you get better!

Try hitting the string a bit harder, and make sure your left hand is allowing all the strings of the chord to ring out clearly.

I'm currently playing a song where sometimes 1st and 2nd strings are slap flicked together, which isn't a problem, but other times the 2nd and 3rd strings are slap flicked together, which might be a problem. I am slightly raising my flicking finger for the motion and trying to not strike the 1st string, but the necessary speed of the motion makes it hard for me to tell if I'm doing the technique right or not. It sounds decent enough to me. Is a slight lack of accuracy forgiving/normal for this technique? Thanks!

the first 10 minutes i tried this i got EXTREMELY frustrated because the notes i flicked where waaay too loud and weird, i soon found out that my ringfinger can flick alot softer than any other finger and i realized its because i had it extremely loose and relaxed that was the key for me, the fingers flicking shouldnt be flexed/stiffened in any way

try finding a sweet spot on the top string it will definetly make that percussive sound nd slap real fast nd not slow
@andreashenriksen14853 жыл бұрын
I know I'm half a year late but better late than never, right? I agree with abhishek kshirsagar but it could also be your action on your guitar that is either too low or too high which will result in the top strings often are buzzing

Kinaesthetic feel ... So important. I tried playing Thumb plucking, thumb slap, and claw plucking. There seemed to be " no smoothness" in the flow. I guess I can say now that there was no right kinaesthetic feel. Thanks.
@GuitarTricks2 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Finding the right kinaesthetic feel is crucial for smooth playing. Each technique like thumb plucking, slap, or claw plucking has its own nuances, and it can take time to develop that fluidity. Keep experimenting and practicing, and don’t hesitate to slow down to really focus on the motion. With time, you'll find your groove! Keep up the great work!

Hey bro, how can I fix my slap flicking on guitar? Because whenever I flick one string, its hitting the other strings that I don't want to play.
@GuitarTricks28 күн бұрын
Try to minimize your flicking motion and focus on flicking outward, not downward into the strings. Use your thumb or palm to mute unwanted strings for better control.

A claw hammer lick on the guitar. Cool
@stevecolby61773 жыл бұрын
There is one big difference here. Clawhammer banjo players do not strike down with their thumbs but have their thumbs in position to pluck a string (typically the 5th string unless you're drop thumbing) and the motion is a slight upward pluck. In trying to do this guitar technique it is contrary to the clawhammer stroke which makes it even harder to execute IMO.
