After seeing this video I did my own with galvanised roof straps with L bend, there 1.5 meter length, I used c16 chocks screwed them to cabinet and then screwed straps to chocks. I used two eyelet bolts, which I bolted to end of L brackets then used chain 🔗 and carabiners to hag them. Thanks for idea 💡 👍

Took me several designs before I figured out how to get rid of those cables. My stand didn't have much clearance in the back. Fortunately, I found a strip of stick on wire/cord channel to hide the power cords @ HomeDepot (electrical dept.), cut to size & painted black. It's like a small pvc pipe w/ an adhesive tape & a slit running the entire length.

Thanks for responding. Your answer helps me out a lot. I had my lights (blue set at 75 and my whites set at 50%) set too high, but my lights are only 7 inches from the surface on a tank that is only 18 inches deep. I see that I need to lower my settings.
@BigLungzMusic
@BigLungzMusic 8 жыл бұрын
Oh ya I would turn them down to about 30 and 25% and slowly work up to about 50 over a few months. Always remember, you can kill a coral with too much light much faster than from not enough light, and these are powerful lights

if those lenses have a 90 degree spread, they light would spill over the edge with this 11" rise. If Hight is 11 inches then measure 11" from the last led horizontal, drop a line and it will fare away from the tank. 45x45x90 triangle... from this picture it looks like the lens has a 20-30 degree spread.

Great video! How high should the lights be above the surface? I have a canopy, and if the lights stay under the canopy it will only be 3" above the surface. Too low? Or can I adjust the brightness to a lower setting and still be ok with 3" clearance? Thanks!
@BigLungzMusic
@BigLungzMusic 8 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. I would be concerned with having them only 3 inches above the water. The manufacturer recommends 8-12 inches above the water, mine are 11 inches above. It all comes down to what kind of coral your trying to grow, how deep your tank is and how intense you set them. Also at only 3 inches above there's a greater risk of getting water in them. they are VERY powerful lights and it's important not to underestimate them. If you do choose to go that way, make sure you start on the absolute lowest power and work your way up to 40-50% over a few months or you could bleach your corals and even melt softies

+Jorden Watkins (JDubsAquatics) thanks for the reply! I guess I'm gonna have to be creative then, I've thought about raising my canopy just to keep the lights from hitting my eyes when I'm in the living room watching TV or destroying other Mario karters! Hahahahaha!!! Anyways, thanks again. Great review! I appreciate you tubers like yourself for giving great ideas to other benign Mario karters like myself.

Hey, great design Jorden, I think I'm going to make two for my lights, I have a 11 inch deep tank. Do you have any suggestions for height from the water and power level. Thanks!
@BigLungzMusic
@BigLungzMusic 7 жыл бұрын
thatsLIT Fam hi thank you! I would go for 12 inches above the water, and start on minimum power. you can easily cook a coral with these lights if the intensity is too high. even easier with a shallow tank. but just take it slow start on minimum and slowly increase the intensity once a week just a tiny bit. I'm guessing the max you would want to run them at after slowly ramping them up is about 50℅ blue, 10-15℅ white

Hey there thanks for the compliment. I am running mine off cheap timers and the blues are set at about 60% and whites about 50% 11 inches above water, my tank is 22 inches deep and I'm getting awesome growth and color in everything. Check out my recent update if you haven't
