Hi Floris, I wanted to take a moment to thank you. I've been having a tough time lately with waking up in the middle of the night, which has made it challenging to maintain consistent quality in my training. I truly appreciate your support and wanted to let you know how much it means to me. Wrote comments first now I’m ready to watch.

Happy to hear that @jbs2ki Waking up in the middle of the night can surely be challenging. It's something Matteo and I talked about as well. Being flexible with your training on days when you had poor sleep can help as well. All the best on your health and running journey. Cheers

Great video, thanks Floris! :) My favorite lesson from this video is that sleep is a foundational part of health and performance and just as important as nutrition and fitness. Getting enough sleep allows you to recover from your workouts, improve your mood, and make better decisions. It is also important to create a consistent sleep schedule and stick to it as much as possible!

Great lessons right there @woofsci. Even if we know some of these things already, we cant underestimate the difference consistent quality sleep can make. Cheers!

"Sleep fitness" - having the same mindset for sleep as athletes have for working out! Thanks for this broadcast, it is something that needs attention in my life. I also like his discussion on taking naps as a luxury!

The nutrition aspect seems to be something that I've been self inflicting on myself. Had no idea carbs specifically had an up to 20% affect on sleep quality definitely going to look into messing around with my diet to try(also cutting out caffeine earlier in the day didn't realize it could last in the body that long) and help out my sleep. Also the tip on adjusting LED lights to warm before bedtime. I usually get about 6 hours of sleep trying to get 7 ideally. Thanks for the content and great educational guests.

Hi Floris I really enjoy your content. You cover all aspects of running optimization. Thanks. It helps me a lot! I know this question is not related tot his video, but was not sure how to ask you this anywhere else to get a reply. Do you suggest/prefer Zone 2 training or MAF training when it comes to building aerobic endurance with marathons as the target goals? I know a bout the 80/20 concept and want to incorporate that into my routine after my next half marathon on Sunday. But I am not sure whether to go for zone 2 for 80% or MAF which is slightly higher BPMs. Curious what you would think? I have been running consistently for the last 3-4 years with 3 runs a week and completed 3 marathons and a bunch more half. Currently PB for marathon is 3:39:42 and for half 1:39:xx Thanks in advance!

For me it's garlic. If I eat too much garlic on the evening my bpm at night are higher and it take forever to fall asleep.

Never measured my heart rate but garlic keeps me up as well !
