This is for VARISPEED - perfect for slowing down audio to figure out tricky parts. To change the tempo of a SAMPLE, in the Inspector panel, click "Flex & Follow" > "Align Bars & Beats." If your sample's tempo varies (ie it wasn't recorded to a click), you can force it onto the grid using Smart Tempo Settings (click "KEEP" under the Project Tempo), then select "Set Imported Files To" > "On + Align Bars & Beats." Now it'll follow the tempo of the project (select "Flex & Follow" in the Inspector panel if it doesn't).

This tutorial is so you can slow down your track to edit portions of your track without having to change the overall tempo of the track. If you’re looking to slow down portions of your session I would recommend clicking on your global track button towards the top left and then editing the tempo in the precise spots from there. Keep in mind this is tempo not pitch.

Your tutorial was great and I was able to slow down my entire track without messing up the pitch! Once I go to export the song it only saves as the original speed. I'll take any advice you have, Thank you!!
@joshuaskaja78732 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried that so I'm not sure. If it's a constant BPM, you can export the audio, import it into a new Logic session at that tempo, and then change tempo simply by adjusting the project tempo.

@@visualsbytrace Without any context it's hard for me to know what you're trying to do. Are you trying to change the tempo of a sample? -> in the Inspector panel, turn on Flex & Follow. If you're starting with audio that wasn't recorded to a click, you can use Smart Tempo Project Settings and Set Imported Files To "On + Align Bars & Beats." That will put non-metronomic audio on the grid (and from there you can use Flex & Follow). Just tested it & that works; let me know if you want a video demo.

Yes-you most likely have input monitoring enabled on a track. Click the little "I" (each track has buttons for MSRI-Mute, Solo, Record arm, and Input monitoring) and it should work.

Many people have had a problem with the audio reverting back to normal speed once you bounce the track. Here is the solution (thanks chat GPT) To ensure that the Varispeed adjustments are applied when you export your track in Logic Pro, follow these steps: 1. *Bounce in Place*: - After adjusting the speed with Varispeed, select the track or region you want to export. - Right-click on the region and choose "Bounce in Place." - This will render the audio with the Varispeed adjustments applied into a new audio file within the project. - You can then export this new bounced track, and the speed adjustments will be retained. 2. *Real-Time Bounce*: - Make sure that the Varispeed button is enabled when you do a real-time bounce (i.e., not offline bounce). - Go to File > Bounce > Project or Section (or use the shortcut Command + B). - In the bounce dialog, ensure "Realtime" is selected instead of "Offline." - This should ensure that the Varispeed adjustments are included in the exported audio. 3. *Flatten/Convert Before Exporting*: - If you’re using Varispeed, you might need to flatten or commit the speed changes before exporting. - Go to File > Project Settings > Advanced, and make sure "Varispeed" is not set to only affect playback. - Another approach is to use the "Bounce in Place" option mentioned above. By following these steps, your Varispeed adjustments should remain intact in the exported file.

I don’t understand why you would only slow down one channel but not the others? Wouldn’t they be out of sync then? I’m not sure if you can export a different tempo using Varispeed.

If you make a simple track. For example, an acoustic guitar with the singer. I want to slow down an acoustic guitar So the singer has more time to breed between the lines. Because the original track is too quick. How am I supposed to do this?? Not changing the singing voice.

@joshuaskaja78732 жыл бұрын
yes, you can use Logic's Varispeed but change the setting so it affects both tempo & pitch. if you want to transpose something a specific amount (eg up a half step so you don't have to tune your guitar down), you can do that in the Inspector pane. (you'll also find fine tuning there, which is handy for older recordings that are in between keys.)
