I have watched both videos on reducing speed and really appreciate your video ....I’m getting a Singer 191d300aa out of a Seamstress shop where it was used sewing clothing ... not sure it has been modified and I do not need the 4200 stitch full speed ahead power .... So getting info on reducing it down ... had thought of the pulleys .... also saw someone do a different set up with same results. This is much simpler, less problems etc. So will try it 1st to see how it sews, then will modify as needed using 1 or both ways you have shown. Quality work ...and watching how you did this tells me that your leatherwork will be as good ... I hope to learn more .. for now I will be using to make some heavy cloth bags, etc.. but see the possibility’s for the lighter leather too.... Thanks so much ....

Cechaflo The 'part one video' shows how to 'reduce' the speed of the sewing machine transmited from the electric motor to the sewing machine head...the 'big pulley of the machine' does less turns while the 'small pulley below' on the motor spins faster...this 'tip' helps a lot to do the sewing, but it is not enough. The 'part two' shows a logical sequence: by elongating the lever of the motor, the effort to move the pedal will be the minimum and we would have a better control of the sewing machine. The 'pitman rod' should be put in vertical position...an 'extra spring' could be added attached from the 'motor lever' to the reverse side of 'wood table' and it would be of great help for the best control of speed.

Hi guys! This is ingenious. It might slow mine down to about 85mph huh? Hahaha. Darn high speed. I was wondering if I could add a variable speed pedal like used on a dremel to help slow it down. What do you think? Love you bunches. Thank you always for your incredible knowledge.
@Cechaflo4 жыл бұрын
Two tips take part to slow down the speed of a clutch motor sewing machine. The first is the use of a very small pulley on the motor. The big pulley of sewing machine head should be bigger. The bigger the better. The second tip is the keep a better control of foot pedal by in elongating the lever as shown in the video. Video one:kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2HafKKXipqonc0 The best suggestion to reduce the speed would be to change the clutch motor for a servo motor. I have no idea about the speed pedal on a dremel. I think in advance it would be good.

Hello Cechaflo, I have watched both your videos on how to slow down the machine. I have had my mechanic change the pully to the small one, so I know that the tension on the belt is correct. I have now completed the second step (i.e. to control the speed.) Everything has been done as per video. No matter how I try I cannot get this machine to sew stitch by stitch like yours. It is considerably slower (thank goodness) but I cannot get it to stitch one by one like your video (i.e. like when you walk the machine using fly weel.) I have a Juki 1508N. What are we doing wrong? I appreciate any help, thank you for yourt time.
@Cechaflo6 жыл бұрын
Hello Tracey, I understand these methods does not work out 100% but it helps a lot. As mentioned a servo motor is the best solution to sew stitch by stitch. My first video mentions the relation of pulleys. For instance, if the 'small pulley' in the motor turns round ten times, the 'big pulley' or 'hand wheel' should turn once. If we want to improve the slowness it would be advisable to make with the help of a lathe operator a new bigger 'hand pulley'. It seems to me the 1245 pfaff 'hand wheel' is bigger than LU juki 1508N.

@Cechaflo6 жыл бұрын
If trying to reduce the speed by using a smaller pulley you have to consider the cilindrical opening in the center of the pulley should perfectly fit the 'keyed shaft' that goes into. Otherwise, you would have to resort to a lathe operator to reduce the pulley's diameter. I do not know where to get those pulleys, sorry. Because of the additional lever the pedal is lightly higher but it works well. The clutch of motor is in its position as if it would not have those alterations. The 'additional long lever' only helps to get a little more control of pedal, no more than that. Fortunately, it's been more than five years and the machine is working perfectly.
