Loving the vids sammy It's been 6 or 7 years since I've gotten a gemmie, I used to fish browns off Sydney a lot with my uncle. We got them up to about 15kg. And my all time favorite eating fish. Just now in the market for a bigger boat to head out for some deep water dropping and some pelagic, Your vids have inspired me to get back out in the deep blue.

Whats going on Mr Hitzke.... I really enjoy your videos. Bro, here in Venezuela what we do with really slimy fish like the bar cod that you caught, when its time to clean it, we grab a couple of limes, cut them in half and with the cut part we rub the fish skin while you squeeze the lime. This helps to break down the slime and makes it easier to handle the fish when cleaning it. Cheers mate

We call those (cucumber fish) Montague mullet. We get em from 20 to 500 metres and they seem to be good bait.

Another great vid mate. Congrats on the bar cod. How was the gemfish? My mother used to buy gemfish when I was a teen (and that was a good few weeks ago now). It was always a very sweet and juicy fish. I'm wondering if it was even the same species though as it was always quite a bit thicker than yours from memory, but that might have been commercialisation or just bad memory.
