People wonder y file Finishing takes so long on round shape skin like old mate said it’s actually quicker than filling everything as a apprentice I got to watch my teacher repair a roof skin on a xe falcon sedan that was kinked above the Centre pillar on the left side of roof skin after showing me the whole straightening procedure on the rack was interesting watching him use heat on the roof skin we’re it was stretched to bring it back flat again with the file finishing process on its flatter shape I learned so much just watching

@@melomotive14 good tradesmen as in proper panel beaters are very hard to find in today’s world 🌎 in my opinion this bloke was amazing he was good at new and really good at older cars and restoration of muscle cars I learned lots from Graeme and he now drives trucks full time but we are still good mates and we still get into the cars he actually employed me in 2022 and he lost his whole business in cars panel beating spray painting from the big flood but he’s slowly rebuilding the shop he’s one of them blokes id do anything for at the drop of a hat and a top bloke to work for im nearly 45 years old and known him for 15 years

Is he going to thin out the metal with all that filing??
@CHRnorton7 ай бұрын
He is not removing much metal.
@peterseymour83307 ай бұрын
The main purpose of the file is to show you what needs to be done in regards to moving the metal around with the tools that your using at the time 👌
@mistersinister20437 ай бұрын
Looks like he just sanded it off since 80% of the job was using the file 🤣
@CHRnorton7 ай бұрын
HE didn't remove that much metal, the "sanding" is used to locate the low spot and work the metal to take the memory out of it, so the work stays stable.

@@CHRnorton he sure as shit did, and that's thin ass metal.

I'd remove that dent with 1/16th inch of body filler after the initial knocking down of the high spots.

Thats not a how to video ! He didn't explain the technique. Title is misleading
@maurotolari92157 ай бұрын
In real life, body filler is the best option .This demonstration had a paintless roof ,no door or wiindscreen no ,internal liner, and insulation removed..

Thanks. The title of this video is “fixing dents in metal” Here’s another one of our videos on using filler. There is a time and place for all techniques. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWjZmn-vapqDgqcsi=AkrAox-mdWuJd1s8
