I am a fanboy, and _tried_ to be triggered, but couldn't muster it up, despite my best efforts. You're a magician.😄

3rd say owner here. Broke it down, cleaned, and used KPL instead of the grease. Soooo much easier to flick. 🤷‍♂️

Definitely agree that lubing the detent ball makes a noticeable difference in action on folders. A tiny amount is all ya need as you don’t want it getting all over the lockfaces which can cause lockstick. CRK grease is ok but on the thick side for my preferences. Haven’t tried KPL but have been using Nano oil for years and love it. Its twice the price of KPL although the bottle has lasted several years for many many blades and is still about half full so considering cost over time i don’t mind that. Probably try the KPL as I know its popular when my bottle of Nano oil finally needs replaced.

Ain’t that the truth. I posted a question to the CRK Fan page on Facebook, and half the comments were people telling me it was a stupid question. I feel bad for new people in this community, especially around these hard core fanboys

Hey, don't tell the fanboys, but I think the CRK action is actually pretty sub-par, especially straight out of the box... and the notion of having to "break in" a $450-$550 knife to get it to the point where everyone says they love it is lowkey BS. Don't get me wrong, I love my Sebenza, and I did finally get it to that "glass-on-glass" feel, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed for a hot minute after getting the knife. I think the people who think these are the smoothest knives in the world bought them 10 years ago when they truly may have been and haven't tried anything since. There's some ridiculously great stuff out there now for half the price.

@@doctoruttley Spyderco doesn't have the same precision as CRK. But I do enjoy some of their knives but not the Slyzz Bowie. To me that's kind of an ugly knife. I prefer the tenacious s35vn

Am I a fanboy? I own 3 Sebenza's and 1 Inkosi. CR knives are really good knives, I've noticed with ALL of mine they don't hold an edge very well, I wish they had a higher Rockwell. I don't mine too much but for their price they should hold the edge better than they do. IMO
@itsaknifestyle8482
@itsaknifestyle8482 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed the same. The thing with S35VN is that it holds a “working edge” for a long time. I have noticed that my CRK will lose their hair shaving edge very quickly but stay somewhat sharp for a long time. This is why S35VN isn’t my favorite, and it would take S30V over it any day. Thanks for watching
@Phaminator525
@Phaminator525 2 жыл бұрын
S35VN is quite nice when it's softer because you don't even need to sharpen. Just hit it with the leather strop. Takes less than a minute and you won't wear on the metal that much. obviously you'll eventually need to sharpen it but I prefer it to harder/chippier

Are you talking about the Sebenza 31 vs Sebenza 21? If you are I plan on doing a video about that soon. If your taking about comparing the Sebenza to the Inkosi or Umnumzaan, I only have the Sebenza so I’ll probably wait to do that until I get my hands on the other knives👍

Both times i tryed to make the action faster with kpl and with nano oil i had to open my inkosi clean all out and regreece it with the crk greese cause it starts to make scratchy sounds out off the whashers. All the smoothnes was lost. I have no kpl heavy but with the normal kpl and the nano oil it doesent work maybe these oils are to thin for this application. I have realy to try the heavy kpl please share your expirence in 2 or 3 days when its worked in.
@itsaknifestyle8482
@itsaknifestyle8482 3 жыл бұрын
The thing I’ve noticed about KPL heavy is that it is still much thinner than grease. It made my action faster, but you are right when you say that the sound isn’t as good. I just took apart my 21 this morning and put the CRK grease on it, the action isn’t as fast now but it hardly makes any noise, and it is very smooth. Keep in mind that I didn’t NEED to put grease on because of the KPL, I just wanted to. At the the end of the day there are positives and negative to any oils that you use. KPL will be faster, but make a less satisfying noise. CRK grease will make the action slower and smoother, and will make very little noise. I hope I was helpful, thanks for watching

I know this is old, but I use KPL original. My new favorite combo is crk grease on washers, etc…then a tiny bit of KPL on detent ball. KPL on washers is also nice, just has a different feel.
