The paper thing seems a bit dumb bc what I do is have my feet both sides of a wall (like left foot on the left and right foot on the right and i just go and since my parents doors are opened and the walls go to their room and to the living room I try to get the other wall closest to the stairs, I do the same with the stairs then down another Trust me being near the walls is the best thing (for me at least)
