Just a pair of tricks...maybe it helps someone: To remember the letter-number pairing just remember the letters XLR and in that order (123): X - 1 - Common L - 2 - Live (Hot) R - 3 - Return (Cold) And last just a trick specially useful in live cables: Cut the shield (common) wire a bit shorter than the other two. This wire is much stronger than the other ones. If someone pulls a cable too strong it will resist better. That's it...hope it helps. Thanks and good video, by the way.

Is there a way to connect normal 2 strand speaker cable to an xlr ? so it could be connected to a amp and the xlr to a monitor speaker? would i be right by connecting to the hot and cold and nothing to the shield?

how to connect regular speaker cable to 3pin xlr? because usually speaker cable has plus and minius only. not ground.

Great tutorial! I had a question if you have a 3 wire cable with red, blue and shield is blue interchangeable with a black?

Just get the correct colour to corresponding pins on both sides. It is just colours.

The one point where I disagree with the video (and I many be incorrect, but it's my understanding) is that white and red usually denote hot wires, so in this case, blue should have been soldered to pin 3 in place of black, and white to pin 2. Using red, blue and shield, you would have the same scheme - where red would be soldered to pin 2 and blue still soldered to pin 3.

It’s not just the way you say it because you’re from NY...that’s how you pronounce it!!! The L is silent!
