I’m sorry, I can’t stop laughing at a solo set up telling me to “Set out the board where everyone can reach it...” IAS, great video, this helped me a ton, thank you!
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
In this particular case, the rules say something like 'setup as you would for a 3 player game' so I went to the rules and copied that line.. and it wasn't until folks started mentioning it that I realized how goofy that sounded. In fact, the next solo video says something like, you're the only one here, do what works for you. lol. Yeah, classic goof! I'm glad the video helped and I hope you're enjoying Red Rising!
@CritsHappen3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMillShow It helped a ton to set up and play, thank you! I figured that was the case... it was a bit comical though. I've always wanted a rulebook that said things like "Place the board on the upper left most spot of the table from the 3rd player." or "Ensure no one but Jill can reach the supply" and just make hilarious stuff up.

Excellent concise video. Glad to see the score pad I thought I was bad at the game, but my scores are pretty consistent with those on your score sheet.

Really enjoying your clear structured approach 👍 just a minor note to say that some of the text cards are not on screen long so hard to read fully. But keep doing what you're doing man!

I love the handwriting and outro too! Are you practicing your box spin-catch? ;-) Seriously though, this was excellently put together and just blew me away. I think this is the best video you've put out yet! Photography and shots are crisp and on point. Well done!
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I figured if I was going to be later than I wanted to be, that I'd get something I have been wanting to try into the video. As for the box spin-catches, I legitimately attempted it 5 times when I was conceptualizing this video and I decided a) Rodney is a robot b) I care too much about my boxes to just throw them around and risk them, especially after the fourth and fifth toss hit the floor. The other thing I learned is that Rodney is a talented guy in addition to great at teaching games. His videos are top-notch.

Based on the quality of this video, I can see a future with Dusty joining the Watch It Played team, and Rodney ending his videos with, "I'll leave you to discover the solo rules with Dusty. "

@@redwlfjsc lol. For Rodney's sake, I hope WIP is never that desperate. :) That channel is what I strive to be quality-wise. And Rodney's a pretty great person too, so not a bad all around channel/person to model yourself after.

Great review, thanks! Only one question: what is the purpose of putting aside 4 Automa's cards? I haven't found it in the Rulebook (
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Yegor. I think the purpose is solely so you don't have perfect information of the deck. You don't KNOW with absolutely certainty that what you want is in the deck or someone's hand.
@EgorSavin3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMillShow ah, that makes sense, thanks! At least when you are familiar with all the Automa's cards )

@@EgorSavin - Yeah, my bad. The four removed from the Automa deck. Yeah, it's the element of not know exactly what cards will be manipulated.

Great job on this! Just a point of clarification- at the 3:00 mark you say don't play 'against' house Ceres in the first game even though the Au Toma doesn't get a house. You mean play AS Ceres correct? Thanks!
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you. That's correct, but if you're comfortable with solo modes and you think this one is easy enough to run, then there really isn't a reason not to go for it. :)
@mdmccu23 жыл бұрын
I really liked this, great editing job! I will note, that in your setup, you indicated you don’t play “against” House Ceres. This should say “as” Ceres, because, as you say next, the automa doesn’t get a house tile.

Nicely done! Looking forward to try it out when the box arives here :-) ... How did you do the handwriting in the video?
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! So the handwriting was done by just creating a green screen background in Procreate (art app) and then using iOS to record the screen. Then in the video app, I just import that video, set it as a 'green screen' video and it removes the background (for the most part) and leaves just the white hand writing.

In my experience the au toma doesn't get even close to 20 cards let alone over 10 by the end of the game. Am I doing something wrong?
@snausageparty64043 жыл бұрын
I have questions 🙋🏻♀️ 1.) Does Au Toma lose points for each card over 7 in her hand? I’ve assumed no but would like to know for sure. 2.) What is the point of removing the top 4 cards of the Au Toma deck?
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alyson. Thank you for checking out the video and leaving a question. 1) Automa will not lose points for each card over 7 in her hand. 2) The point of removing cards is just to add a layer of unpredictability. If you are one of those people who can remember what each of the Automa cards does, you can logic out.. I've seen card all cards but 1, 4 and 7 .. so the Automa will be going to these places or doing these things. Removing a few cards each time eliminates the possibility of 'perfect knowledge'.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm very excited to play it! Do you like it solo as much as multi-player?
@TheMillShow3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s far closer than normal. I really like both modes but having fun with others always elevates an experience. I’m very fond of the solo in this game though because I can get through a game quickly - or feels quick, I haven’t timed it yet. It’s pretty easy setup wise so it’ll have a better chance of getting to the table.
