How to solo tame the Sunken Temple Wind Serpent | Season of Discovery P3 | Jeiku Living Flame NA

Hey everyone! Wind serpents very well could be the best pet once again in Phase 3. Since my group isn't quite ready to raid and I wanted to have a wind serpent with max loyalty ready I decided to put together a guide on how to tame these as a solo player.

Oozeling is actually pretty hard to kill if you're melee hunter and not very geared. 15k health with an underleveled pet is tough.

You can also just tame Arash-ethis in Feralas. He's a rare white wind serpent and does a circle in an area. I sat at 45,25 and just used unitscan addon to notify, then eyes of the beast on his path every few minutes. Took 2 hours and bam, found em. Is a 49 elite with the same skills as the Sunken Temple serpents. Max crit so far is 910 with lightning breath 3.

according to what i have read he is also on an 8 hour cd, and is also very popular, i farmed for him all week every operatunity i had and never seen him., you really have to get lucky to find him right now. this methos is much much easier

I would recommend using an invis pot on the very first pack (the one you’re told to reset if it’s not the right comp). You’ll spend quite a bit of time with resetting the dungeon and waste your lockouts if you don’t do that. You also don’t need to send your pet into die when you click on the rope to go upstairs. Just run up to the top, click it, trap one of the two mobs upstairs, and feign death in the corner. After that, it’s pretty easy.

@@evenmoredaveThe spawn patrols the outer circle which is after you take the rope upstairs. I would guess that its patrol route takes about 2 minutes to complete a circle so if you /target right away, it could be out of range.

theres also a big ooze that patrols in my lockout, dunno if if it does for others, but can conflict with the taming and should be raid marked as well to see where he's going

how did you enter solo ? also if your raid has cleared up to and including eranikus will all the trash have despawned for that raid ID

I wanted to mention for those having difficulty with this tame, that there is a slightly easier way to do this if you are already doing the raid. Even if you don't want to bother the other guildies with a request to stop and tame a wind serpent like I did, there is a Frostwing Sapper within a group of mobs after the final boss, which (at least in my raids) we don't bother to kill since there's no need. So, right after the raid was done, I went back into the raid, back to the Hakkar location and just walked up and tamed him! No respeccing, no need for invis.. just a standard tame. Not sure if the mobs here are randomized or not but check it out on your next raid and maybe just ask the raid not to kill those final mobs. I had to tame a Hakari Sapper in order to get close enough to the Frostwing, but there was no drama.

Basically 1.0 or 1.2 Cat > WS > CH for Ranged 2.0 Cat > WS > CH for Melee Once melee get the nature dmg claw offhand WS gets better for melee.

I failed the tame a couple of times with 1s left, I would highly suggest buying Magic Dust from the AH as it will sleep the Serpent for 30 seconds, making the tame perfectly safe.

Just for context -- where are you getting info about DPS for pets? I want to see if there's a huge difference between Core Hound/Wind Serpent / Cat -- if you could point me towards any resources/posts I'd love to see! Thanks man! Also -- I think on first glance/my own theory crafting, if you're going to ranged you have to go deep MM. 300 Ranged Attack Power on Trueshot seems insane to give up, not to mention that your crits get huge buffs, you're critting more often, and you can use your pet to boost your attack speed and the synergy between traps seems nutty to give up if you do it properly. I can't see a world in which pure BM in the PvE arena would come close at least as compared to ranged only -- not counting in melee hunter here.

Yep just stay feigned at that first spot until the slime wanders towards the stairs. The second spot I shadow meld doesnt need shadow meld as long as you kill the little slime as I mention in the video

For melee they seem to be better, for ranged cat have more value with Focus Fire synergy via claw. Once melee hunters get the claw items from ST those give nature dmg buff so that will help WS DMG

A little thing, i tamed one with guild yesterday and the serpent doesnt go up in loyalty.

Mines gone up as normal. Pets need to earn a % of xp to level up their loyalty and pets get VERY little experience while in a raid

I also tamed one with my guild, doesn't go up in loyalty at all, it's not that it's low in a raid, it's at 0. I reset at the pet trainer, lost it's 2 abilities, and still at 0 loyalty. Can't train any abilities Ed. Just took a lot of grinding, but DID level up!
