HERE I COME TO SAVE THIS VID!!! haha!! I will first address the common sense issue of needing the colors to match in each corner of the second step.. (That is the final goal of the second step, not the initial goal. You only need one corner partially aligned to proceed onto step 2. ) So.. for you who don't understand the "corner orientation" I hope this helps! Every corner of the cube contains 3 different colored surfaces that come to a corner or point. We know the top is yellow and now you know what each adjacent wall color is because of the bottom layer you have already finished So each corner contains 3 colors.. Top (yellow and the 2 colors of each particular face in that corner) Step 2: the point of this step is to ensure all the corner cubes of the top layer are in the correct location on the cube.. DO NOT worry about getting the YELLOW part on top and finished yet! The right cube in the right place, not the right position, that comes later! The 4 top corner cubes have to be the correct 3 colors to match the faces of that particular corner. Now we know each corner has a yellow part for the top.. It does not have to appear correctly on the cube yet!! Just in the "right orientation" step 3 will flip them around and match the colors to each corner...they just need to be in the correct position on the cube. The bottom layer is already correct so if you have an orange wall next to a green wall you need that corner cube to be orange, green and yellow for the top.. Even if green is on top, yellow with the orange and orange with the green on that corner of the cube... That is the right cube, it just needs to be rightly aligned later! The point is just getting the correct colored cube in the correct corner before the magic begins! Hope that makes sense!! STEP 2:'s failed communication issues; " Good case" "bad case" Alright now that's out of the way.. HERE is the larger issue everyone is facing with step 2. @3:50-4:06 should have been at the beginning of step 2 @ the 3:00 mark.. He wasn't very clear even then.. *** Some will get very lucky and all 4 corner cubes may be already in the correct orientation.. If that is the case you can move one to step 3. HERE is where is get tricky.. the algorithm given in step 2 ONLY works if ONE of the corners is correct. This is the "good case / bad case" thing i beleve he is talking about.. I don't think it even works if you have 2 in each corner, but he was running steps 2 and 3 right into eachother. He said you need 1 or 4 corners to match around 4:10 or so and that was a minute AFTER we started the Algorithm!! Not very clear what this meant until now.. Still not sure to be honest, but these were my findings after multiple failed and successful attempts. So to achieve step 2 correctly, inspect the top corners in the layer and arrange so only 1 corner is in the correct orientation (again, it does not have to be correctly facing the right ways, but the right colored cube has to be in the right corner, just one! More than one and the algorithm doesn't seem to work correctly in my experience) You can rotate the top layer around to try and make ONE good corner if you have none or multiple matching corners after step one. (I think he called it a u-turn at about 4:00 in the video) If you leave more than one good corner when you perform the algorithm you will be chasing your tail!, but that comes in handy later here! So BEFORE you do the algorithm see if you can make only ONE good corner, (just one correct cube in the correct corner, colors aren't alighned yet) not 2 or 3 correct corners, just ONE! If you can put that good corner in the top right of the cubes face you are working on, like in the video, the rest should be history if you complete the algorithm correctly.. It should then leave you with 4 properly positioned corners (you may have to rotate to align them u-turn that top layer) and you can carry on to step 3 to flip them around and get the colors aligned! OK!! Here is where is gets tricky.. If you finish step 1 and have rotated the top layer trying to find a position with one good corner and end up with more than one or none THE GAMES BEGIN! This was not addressed and can get a bit crazy if you didnt't get lucky with the arrangement from step one. This process can take you for a loop.. I kept finding a good corner and performing the algorithm and stuff kept jumping around everywhere.., but in this I found performing the algorithm flipped some pieces until I achieved ONE good corner. The algorithm is intended to leave the bottom layer intact so always perform it with the white side down.. What he is not explaining is the fact it isn't always a one hit wonder.. You may not find just one corner that is good to work off of so and then you go into a loop! So you have to check ALL top corners before step 2 and ensure only one of them is in the correct orientation. Then place that corner top right of the face facing you and work the algorithm.. If you have more than one good corner rotate the top and see if you can find a positon with ONLY ONE good corner.. IF NOT keeping the cube white side down perform the algorithm and try to make that ONE corner happen.. Once you find it, you should be good to go on to step 3 and finish it! This is probably why his cube arrangment kept changing that part of the video! Couple of swings and misses!! One hint for step 3 is to watch out for the other moving yellow cubes when performing the task.. You do not want to stop prematurely on the wrong cube and always finish the algorithm and be sure to rotate the top only!! not the whole cube when moving to the next corner! Hope that helps Drove me nuts as well! I hope I solved the rubix inside of the rubix video for y'all! Don't mind the repetition, i was just trying to make sure I got in your heads if more than one corner is in the correct orientation when you perform step 2 it won't work.. and if you have to do the algorithm multiple times to find the one corner and get them in place, be sure to keep the white side down as usual and it should give you some more options to work with. Don't forget to rotate the cubes top layer to find those corners before performing the algorithm over and over.. You can usually find one most of the time just by rotating like he did with the u-turn around the 4:00 mark.. God Bless!

anyone else who is confused as i was IMMENSLY is when you have all the pieces in the right spots just not the right colors in the places you do the small 4 part one(this is where i got confused cuz after doing these 4 turns it mixed up my white! THATS OK just keep doing the 4 until the piece on the upper right shows yellow side up) then twist the top to the next mixed up one and do the same exact thing again it literally fixes the white by doing this and you dont have to worry about the white anymore even though its all mixedup. THATS WHY i was sooooo confused. I got discouraged because the white kept getting ruined. But didnt realize that by fixing the colors using that system it literally solves it. REALLLY hope this helps someone out

2 by 2 is so easy I dont even know why I'm watching this I already figured out my own method MONTHS ago 😂😂 Tip: Just imagine a 3x3 but without sides and middle, and use the same moves to get them in the right place. Nice video though!

I always get the bottom half and then two top pieces but I can’t ever get the last two because by then there’s too many pieces to pay attention to

i have a tip dont think of them all as an algorithm and try to think of it as something else for me i imagine a scenario happening on the cube but for you it might be different
@abc123rgb2 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie all I watched is when you said down up left right, so I just experimented with that and ended up getting it in less than 5! My tip for others is to not lose track what you're working on, don't jump around too much.

He didn’t need an algorithm for when it was under he just needed to move the top to the side then move that piece up and move the top back

I feel like solving the first layer could have been done intuitively, just speaking from experience because I’m also a cuber so looking at this made me wanna help a bit, but yeah I only use 3 algorithms at most on this cube most of what I do is intuitive
@Vibxzy4 жыл бұрын
TheSimonShi Yeah, yeah I get that I just noticed that some cases you used algorithms for to get the first layer done could have been like 2-3 turns max, but overall great way of explaining this, I let my little brother watch and he understands your explanations better than most other videos he’s watched, so keep it up mate.

@ricokri35543 жыл бұрын
Oh great.. my comment has just vanished. Meh.. So there I go again.. ':/ You are absolutely right; this method cannot work. After the cut in the video he continues with a different scramble which does not have the two corners next to each other. Here is how it works: Place the two pieces you want to swap in the front of the top layer. (UFL and UFR, you basically have one thumb on each of the wrong corners) Then you do: [ R' F R' B2 R F' R' B2 R2 U' ] - Swap done For swapping diagonally I've created this: [ F' U R' F2 U' R F U R2 U R' ] Not the nicest algorithm in history, but it works. Of course you also could simply use the first one twice in a row and come to the same result. Then everything should work out, as it is explained in the video.
