I had a problem arise: x-2y=1 x+y=4 Using your method, if x is 0, -2y=1, in which case y=-0.5 If so, x=1 for the first expression and the coordinates are (0, -0.5)(1, 0) However, in the second expression, firstly -0.5+1 does not equal 4, and secondly the coordinates arrived at for this expression using your method (0,4)(4,0) do not intersect with (0,-0.5)(1, 0) Clearly without using any graph, x=3, y=1 which works for both expressions, but I can't find a way for this to intersect graphically. Where am I going wrong?
