When the numbers in the fractions are not divisible In the first example 30÷10 =3 the 30 number can be divided by 3 In the second one that used cross multiplication You can see that 12÷5 will have a remainder and cannot be divided directly so he used the cross multiplication👍🏼

Simple cross multiplication. 4 * 49 = 196 196 / 7 = X X= 28 no doubt about that. ✅ 28*7 = 196 4* 49 = 196 It checks out. ✅
