Also, look at the number of petrol and diesel cars over 10 years old that are still on our roads. Who would take a chance on buying a 10-15 year old EV ?

I'm just going to keep my old cars maintained and I guess we will end up looking like Cuba!

EVs are not a solution because IC cars are not the problem.....

As with everything they touch any government interference always, always causes mayhem to an industry or economy. Now it’s the car manufacturers turn to suffer. Of course the consumer will ultimately pay.

The market will always decide, and it doesn't really like EV's, at least not in the numbers the government are hoping for.

What the EU governments have possibly just started to realized is that by insisting on EV’s, the technology playing field has been leveled, allowing china, with all its resource advantages, to wipe out the EU industry in a 15-20 year period. We’re 10 years in already. Brilliant…

Corporatised marketing speech. 'The buying journey '..jeez. Average uk salary of 30k. Most people struggle to pay for a 2nd hand car. How many can afford finance for a 40-60k car to go to work in ? How many can afford to risk a 2nd hand EV with no base line history of running costs and huge depreciation? I live in a town of 2500 people and 8 chargers. Most of wales has no 4g-5g signal and therefore using a charger is be impossible. Most of the UK is in a similar situation. I can see a BIG manufacturer going bust soon.

I can see them all going bust soon, if this absolute lunacy continues.

I just started in the supercar industry two weeks ago as a marketer & advertising designer, told I could also sell supercars if I wanted, now I have about 80 feraris, a few mclarens, a few Aston Martins & the sales side of things scares me with these EVs being around This podcast is pretty kwl guys, keep it up

The government can set any sales targets it wants. People don't have to buy them. I'm considering a new vehicle right now. Waiting to see what surprises the Chancellor announces in the Budget before committing.

Sell what people want, not what the Government want us to buy and you'll be fine! EV's are not selling because people don't want them! I won't be forced to buy an EV, that's for sure! Why should anyone be 'incentivised' in to buying a EV? I have a driveway, and could install a charger, and can certainly afford an EV. I don't want one. I even chose a car allowance rather than Company vehicle, so I didn't have to stomach the headaches that come with an EV. Let's be honest, the number of EV's that have been registered compared to those sold, rather being hidden in a field somewhere, should tell you something!

Imagine buying a house with only half a dozen electrical sockets, and they frequently don't work. UK EV infastructure comes to mind 😂.

The only workable incentive to purchase EVs is to sell them at half the retail price, and even then the advantages of ICE vehicles overwhelmingly outweigh those of EVs. EVs fundamentally are not a viable alternative to ICE vehicles and the sooner the UK Government accepts the fact, the better for all of us!
@peterthwaites58913 ай бұрын
Until EV`s are produced that do what the public want, at a price that makes it a direct alternative to an ICE car these low sales problems will exist, if `EV`s are "discounted" in any way it has a very negative effect on all EV values, for myself who has off road parking and only do a very low yearly mileage an EV "could be a sensible alternative" if i wanted one? but for many people an EV simply does not add up unless it`s paid for by your company..
