How to solve the problem that the Pi network node blockchain is not syncing

This video was made to help others solve their issues with the Pi Node and is a valid video to remedy the issues with the latest version of Docker Desktop. Prior to viewing this video, the node software was constantly not in sync with the node network's latest block. After following the suggestion of downgrading to version 4.5.1 of Docker Desktop, my machine is processing block at a more stable rate than it did with the latest build of Docker Desktop. Thank you for taking time to make a video on how to solve the block sync issue that many people are having. Well... I downgraded to v4.5.1 and it still does not work. Pi node sits at block 1. Ports are open. Multiple incoming/outgoing connections. The STATE seems to be stuck in "Joining SCP". Anyone have any advice on getting this working?

Very nice video. Have been trying to run a Pi node since September, 2023. Local block stuck at 1. Have spent countless hours searching Google for a resolution. Nothing definitive. Ports open. Multiple incoming/outgoing connections. Pi Node version number: 0.4.5; operating system: WINDOWS 10.0.19045. Finally realized problem might be "State: Joining SCP". Was running Docker 4.21.0, recently upgrade to v4.26.1. Must I downgrade Docker to v4.5.1? Any other advice/tips/tricks will be greatly appreciated!! TIA.

If everything is ok, then you can use the new Docker I think. If some problems occur, the easiest way is to change to the old one. LOL. Good luck.

@@TubeUnderdeveloped Well... I wasted hours and hours. I un-installed v4.26.1 and installed v4.5.1 -- NO JOY -- Still stuck at block 1 and "joining SCP"!! Installed v4.5.1 on another laptop. Doesn't work. Then installed v4.26.1 on that laptop. It doesn't work either. It's a real shame the Pi team can't/won't provide any help when things are stuck. They are the ones who can figure it out.

You should open the ports, otherwise no outside visitor to access your node. Then you will have no bonus. You must have the admistrator priority then you can access the modem control part. You should ask your supervisor to make it happen. Good luck.

I just set pi node for my pc. But it always runs on syncing on local block number 1 and no changes on the local block number and no incoming connection and outgoing connections.The state is Joining SCP. Sir. Are you talking about docker desktop ? latest is 4.20. I am experiencing docker stop and Pi Node stop. i dont know why, suddenly you lose big chunk of blockchain and need to back them back and it take time. Any idea why docker and pi node stop working ?

The docker that the Pi node used is not the latest version. But the old version. If you downgrade to version 4.5.1 of Docker, the problem may disappear. Please try it out and tell us the result. I have used docker 4.6, and it increases the delay continuously. I have tried several methods that can eliminate the delay as I explained in the video. It is not convenient. Then I changed the docker to version 4.5.1, and till now there are no delays at all. I have heard that the latest docker version 4.8 also works well but I have not tried it. Are you open the ports? You must allow the TCP/IP incoming. Also, check your router setup. You must manually configure port forwarding on the router. Good luck.

Hi Tube Underdevelopment. I have ports issue. When i run the check, the ports are all closed. But when Im running the node, it says its running. port 31401 31402 31403 are running. why does the ports close when I do the check?

The Pi app has delay issues sometimes. If you check several times it may change. Just run the docker and Pi node app and let it works. The command check is more reliable I think. Good luck.

Hi , I'm using docker last ver .24 I also tried 4.5.1 , the difference is in latest block in 24v max is a minute ago but state change to joining scp every min , the older version latest block reaches 5 min or more delay , my question which is better to get latest block is less than a minute or to keep state synced and have more latest block delays , thanks also I have zero incoming connection

I don't know what is better. In fact my node works like this. When the block number changes the node update immediately. I see the block number changes one by one. Not by time. I am not sure what is difference between your docker and main. I use the docker as I descripted in the video. Also I think if it is only several minutes, it may not be a big problem. LOL. Keep going. You must run the node 7/24. Now all nodes are testing. When your node gets the container then you should get the bonus. Good luck.

my pi node app does not sync with docker. when docker start running the pi node will stop syncing. i am going to do a clean Windows installation to see if this will correct the problem.

Which version do your docker use? I have the sync issue using the latest version first. After I down grade the docker version it works for me perfect. Now I still use the old version and everything is fine. You may try this also. Good luck.

By the way, the Oracle VM VirtualBox is been used in my system, not the Docker Desktop.

I am not sure whether the Oracle VM works or not. You can check if you have got the container or not first. After that, you are one of the candidates for the Pi node and in the blockchain list. Then you will get a bonus. Also if these do not work for you. I think you can change the VM to the Linux VM setting according to the setup procedure. The Pi node is programmed according to this setting I think. Good luck.

I think the computer will run very slowly and maybe crash. You can easily change to a new SSD hard disk. Now it is really cheap. GOod luck.

Thanks for your comment. I am glad you trust me for your troubleshooting. As I know you already do everything and it should be OK now. Your ports already opened since you have got outgoing connections. The incoming connections will increase later after other users find you somehow. (of course, it is automatic. -:) ). Your docker also looks fine since your consensus state is catching up. Please check the catching-up speed briefly. Such as testing for 5 minutes, how many block numbers increased for your local and whole. If the local speed is larger than the whole, it is ok since it will catch up to the whole number. Otherwise, the delay will become larger. Please check the docker version, if the version is not 4.5.1, please downgrade it. You can find the information on settings and software updates. The pi Node works very well on this old docker version. By the way, I have upgraded my Windows to 11, and it works very well. Good luck.

I just check my node, I have got 8 outcoming and 56 incoming now. LOL. It always keeps syncing, now on the best day I got more than 8 bonuses. (works as 32 teams). And sometimes got ZERO since I don't know why the computer rebooted. (That is why I upgraded to Windows 11, it bothers me too much.)

My Pi node version is 0.4.5. You can see this from the Troubleshooting page. I don't know why your Pi node version is 0.7.1. Please make sure you download them from the official homepage. Also, check other options that relate to the node. Such as opening the ports and changing configuration in router setting, etc. Good luck.

My node bonus only reduces if I have not clicked in the app for more than 12 hours. If I click in the app every day my bonus is always high(ish) 0.67 per hour Now it is 0.59 as I did not click quickly enough.

@@harrykambo1987 Congratulation. You are in the club now. The bonus will change continually. If you run the node longer, the stable will be. Just keep it running 24/7. And often check if your node is running. My node sometimes stops running caused of some problems I have not mentioned. And I often get the update notice to Windows 11. Too boring even though I think I already close the update function. Now I am updating to Windows 11. If something is wrong, maybe I will downgrade to Windows 10 again. LOL.

When you logon to your node that is installed on your computer, it will ask you to provide a node code. This code is linked to your Pi app on your smartphone. I don't have that code which indicates that you are the owner of this node. So please input this code yourself. This will pair your Pi app with your node application. Then after some period you will get the node bonus when you get the node container from Pi official server. Good luck.
