Which methods have you tried or want to try? What works for you?

The straw is dangerous, what if you accidentally use suction accidentally, and beads go into your mouth as a choking hazard? The paper lip is sharp, don’t recommend.

@@contestmathproblemsolvingf6558 I definitely agree! Don't suck on the straw, people! Instead, if your beads get stuck, use something smaller to push them through.

I'll have to try the paper clip method. Atm I'm using a long safety pin which I can put about 8 beads on at a time.

I know this is an old video but stumbling across it saved my life! Sorting beads used to be such a chore for me no matter if I sorted them all at once or in stages. Learning the tape method made it so much easier and kind of fun really! What used to take me weeks to months now only took me a couple days with just a simple strip of tape and a silicone boba straw! So glad I found this video!

I have a couple of methods that I hope are helpful. I use Rectangle Portion Snack zipper bag (I found them at Walmart in the zip lock bag row). Each one holds a 1000 count bag of beads. (The bags are longer than wide.) I put the bags in a flat-ish plastic box. I just move them around to find the right colors I need. I pour a few out as I need them onto a white hand towel. I use white to see the beads better. I use a towel to keep the beads from rolling around and it’s so much easier to pick them up.

Ever since I started using beads almost a year ago, I've always used jars to separate my colors. Not only do they provide a lot of room, they also look quite nice, and I can pour the beads into the lid of the jar so I can grab them more easily when I'm doing projects.

I use a 3D printed 1" cubicle organizer that I sort them into, then pour them into a 2" box before I dump them into a Mason Jar. I use a jigsaw sorting trey and measure out 6 1"³ scoops then sort 3 colors at a time. I use the metal mini perler tweezers. I started using a piece of washi tape to mark the level on the container to see how many I sort in a day.

I use a pair of pointy tweezers. If two beads of the same colour are standing next to each other I can pick up both of them at the same time. It also let's me pick up standing and lying down beads. I usually pick them either from a flat surface or from my hand. I like to take a small amount of beads at once. Especially when the jar only has few enough colours to fit into one sorting box. I sort small batches. I put a handfull on my sorting surface and sort all of them repeat.

I have the larger one which a set of beads came in and the smaller ones which other beads came in. I wasn't a big fan of those and I tried the drawers but found them too cumbersome I got a large number of small storage tubs which came in sets of six and I use one for each colour. They don't have lids but that's fine and they weren't very expensive. I had two sets that came separated by colour in the one tier containers and the most recent set came in the multi tier container. Some colours were separated and the others were two colours in each section Transferring them over is taking time and each tub can hold about 1000 beads but I use labels to identify which sets they come from as I have beads from four different companies and they're not all exactly the same shades and I also label the colour they're listed as

When using sorters with removable dividers; try using some tape to keep them from lifting up. A bit on each side should be enough. I found not all organizers are the same, and ones which have that 'grid' on the lid are best, since they keep beads from slipping over the top too! These organizers can flex slightly if you pick them up, especially when full - so the tape and the lid grid help to keep colors where they belong. The other thing I might suggest is alternate colors, so if one bead does stray into the wrong bin, it's easier to notice rather than keeping different shades of the same color together. Consider using a complimentary color, like reds and greens, or oranges and blues together! edit: if beads do slip over the top, try some bubble wrap taped to the lid - you can still see the colors through it, but should keep a seal for each bin

It's best to buy the mixed beads because buying bags of already organized beads will cost more
@BigBossRazz
@BigBossRazz Жыл бұрын
That's definitely the best way if you're looking purely at cost for sure. For some folks who are super busy though, they might be okay spending a little more money to save them the time of organizing the beads. I used to buy the mixed set, but lately I've had way less time so I'm okay with splurging a bit to get specific colors that are already sorted haha

Where can I get coupons for beads? Do I have to look to coupons for beads or is the only option coupons for the store they're sold in (i.e. Michael's)? Can you explain what the purpose of the tape on the straw is? Is it to strengthen the straw so it doesn't crumple at the tip and obstruct the beads going in? Does it add friction so multiple beads remain in the straw and not fall out as you hose up multiple beads?
@BigBossRazz
@BigBossRazz Жыл бұрын
As far as coupons, there are some in mailers and some in the app and some on their website. They’re usually generally purposed so it doesn’t have to be specifically for beads. Maybe signing up with your nearest craft store might help. As far as the tape, I’ve found that it helps trap the bead in position so it doesn’t just fall right out as soon as you pick up the bead. That way, you can keep picking up beads and stack them up in your straw until you’re ready to move them elsewhere. I hope these answers help!
@TheRedGameboy
@TheRedGameboy Жыл бұрын
@@BigBossRazz Thank you. I can consider some brick and mortar places in my area. Do you have any online coupon sources? Like eBay sellers or craft supply online stores that have seasonal sales, which you rely on?
@BigBossRazz
@BigBossRazz Жыл бұрын
For me personally, I used to go to Jo Ann, but in my local area they seem to be selling less and less in their physical and online store for Perler Bead stuff so I’ve been going more to Michael’s. For specific colors that are harder to find, I go directly to the Perler website where they also have some sales. You can also sign up for emails on those. That being said, I haven’t really explored a lot in the independent vendor space, so I can’t really comment on that yet.

That’s a really good question! I’d say with the straw method… Hm. I only sit down for a bit at a time to restock a few colors at a time… If you’re focused, maybe somewhere between 15-20 hours total?
