How to Sort by Measure Names with Parameter Actions

Hi Andy. Appreciate your tutorial. I think it's important if you can point out that the parameter action doesn't do the sorting. It simply assigns the hovered value to the parameter. The sorting magic happens at the worksheet level (in the Bar Chart sheet).

Hi Andy, I was looking everywhere but is there a possibility to change order of columns in already published view like some users want instead of sales - quantity - profit some other order or profit-sales-quantity, etc. WDYT?

I'm sure there's a way to control the configuration of the column orders on Tableau Server based on the user ID, but I wouldn't recommend putting in that effort. It will be a nightmare to maintain.

Brilliant as always Andy ... like the way you create a dummy field to get some space before Sales as my first idea would have been to add a tiled blank object in the dashboard and then resize it! - Still, Parameter Actions are a game changer !

what if we need to sort by ascending and descending with multiple measures?

That doesn't make sense with this type of view. You can only sort the dimension one way.

This is amazing Sir, But if I want to sort only field like, sales field then quantity and profit don't having any changes at that time. Please reply Sir ASAP I really need help.

Since this is a single sheet, it doesn't make sense to filter by more than one measure. If you need multiple sorts, you'll need a sheet for each measure you want to sort by.

@@vizwiz My problem is: I have a table Name Employee and having 3 fields names are FirstName, LastName, Address. Now I was to make all field able to do sort a-z and z-a and I found the solution by using combined field and drag it at top most left side. "But now problem is that, if I am trying to sort one field like FirstName (z-a) then rest LastName and address is also having changes at same time but I want only one field at single time." Please reply ASAP sir.
