I like the second layer of reading someone's pulse. From time to time I will notice someone's pulse going nuts in their neck but sat there wondering well are they amped up because they have a big hand or because they are running a big bluff. Never thought to try and see if their pulse calmed down over a period of time. Fun to think about.

I love live tells and they are very helpful, especially for recreational players. Just understand that live tells are not reliable without context. The biggest flaw I see with players who study and work to improve their game is thinking that other players see the game the same as you. Especially with recreational players. If you don't understand the players range and how they value their hands live tells are worthless. Also you should understand a players baseline and how they react with different hand values.

The thing is the people who're most prone to giving off tells are usually bad and inexperienced players. Thus general observation of their play and sticking to good fundamental poker will beat these players.

​@@MitjitsuI've found the players I can exploit the most tend to know some about poker, but not enough. The novices and complete calling stations are ABC poker, but you always have to be aware of some random 2 pair, straight or flush they might have backed into. It's the ones I can bluff a bit more often that usually pay more dividends. I'll often get into good sized pots with them where scare cards are highly exploitable, and I take advantage accordingly. Several pots came up just today in a live MTT I was playing where pushing around semi capable opponents proved highly profitable. We can all beat the newbies. It's profiting off the less talented regs that pays off the most in many spots...

I watched this 2 days ago. last night i played a short session. called a 3b squeeze mp vs ep with TT. call flop, he jams turn.. he starts breathing heavy and doesnt relax. i find the call. now i have $1000 instead of 300 after the hand which i would normally snap fold... next hand he doubles me up again!! thanks Fedor!

I think the pulse tell mentioned here is actually backed by math too (doesn't work for top pros but still) Pot $1000, river bet $700 for value (nuts). Initial excitement from betting $700, but wears off because you accept/settle into the $700 swing of whether they call. Pot $1000, river bet $700 as a bluff. Same initial excitement from betting $700, however the bettor maintains excitement as the swing of whether they call is actually $1700 and as they realize this they get more excited or at least maintain the initial excitement.

Ever tried asking a player whos betting river big if “they ll show u if u fold”? If their answer is a hasty and genuine “yes” they r always bluffing. used to think the sipping from drink is more indicative of a bluff but after several bad calls and 100s of dollars lost i now agree that the opposite is actually true😂

My biggest tip is take your time, just think and keep looking at the player. Talk to them, ask them questions. Sometimes people will flat out tell you their hand without even realising it.

Ppl bet dropping their chips like it is plastic shit directly towards opponent is often a bluff and there are some psychological explanations to that, players putting wisely and smoothly their chips close to the line are at least very confident.

Whenever I want to get called I try to look as nervous as possible, I’ll start fiddling with the strings on my hoodie or taking sips on my drink. Bluffing a bit tougher to act relaxed though.

From the perspective of a 50+ year old male, I LOVED this video. But disagree with most of the theory! You're obviously more accomplished than I am, but many of us old guys have adjusted to the game. You take your index finger and middle finger and place them firmly on your opponent’s carotid artery or brachial artery (refer to anatomy textbooks for locations). Some poker rooms don’t allow this.

Ummm... Yes. I played at a table today, and the three guys who stacked their chips loosely were calling stations, in most pots and unconcerned with keeping their stacks clean. The four tight guys and one woman kept their stacks even, easy to view and in line. I didn't even have to see anything else, and I knew exactly how the table would play. That's very player specific. I think the default rule is that it is actually the other way around. Most players need to be relaxed to be talking a lot and don't want to give away that they are tense in case they are bluffing

When you say the player is bluffing and he is "excited", what you really mean is nervous. Excitement is usually associated with a positive emotions.
