Selling books is a nice break from clothing. Wanted to share with you the sci-fi book score I found that sold for a great profit. Found 20 1960-1970 A.E Van Vogt paperbacks (that looked like they lived every one of those years) for $1.00 at a yard sale and sold them for $25 in less than a day. Also Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Trilogy sell as soon as I list them, they are some books I don't find in the wild very often.

I've been selling books for more than a few years now and have never sold on Amazon. I saw too many listings for books I'd previously looked for asking 1 cent! Ridiculous. I also never utilized a scanner until maybe the last 6 months but that's only to check books I think may be valuable. I've been to too many sales where I see zombies scanning tables and tables of books without really even looking at what they're scanning. Maybe it's because I love to read and enjoy looking at interesting titles and cover art. Anyway, that's my two cents if anyone gives a shit. Also, thanks for saying stuff from the 60's isn't "old".

Thank you sooo much for sharing your views and experience on Amazon. I started on Amazon and got so frustrated for many of the reasons you stated and more. I wanted so bad to learn how to be a reseller but Amazon scared me off and lost confidence in being able to do it. Now, the reselling bug is buzzing in my ear again. It was nice to hear your views because I felt like a failure with Amazon. A friend told me ebay and Postmark is a good place to start again with the tons of inventory I have. 4 households in family and they all send their declutter stuff to my house! I think I will revisit the reselling thing. It was nice to hear your tips, views and experiences on your videos!

With your knowledge of valuable books, this is a no brainer for you since you’re having neck and back issues. Much quicker and easier to do books IMO. Finding value is easier too.

Great video. I totally agree with your opinion of Amazon for a book reselling. It's just horrible to be a buyer looking for a book there and all you get are stock photos and a BS line about it being in acceptable condition I hate it I'll never order a book from Amazon again

i sell on e-bay,and bonanza.. i try and concentrate on older copies...older paperback westerns from the 40's,50's & 60's.. also older scify, mystery,or romance the cover art is just fantastic. and hardbacks with dustcovers . even if the dust covers may have some damage.

I agree with so much of what you said- I am a book lover who started selling some of my books and then sourced them from library sales and garage sales. I had a book, Pew, which I sold and my daughter saw it, sat down, and read it, non-stop, because I needed to send it out. I tried to replace it and saw a copy at a reasonable price listed under " Good," so I contacted the seller but they could only give me the " official " meaning and had no access to the book in their warehouse. Most sellers of books I see when sourcing are scanners without a brain-they would never be able to spot a book on their own, and they care nothing about the books. It's like a puppy mill, but the product is a book.

Just FYI Subterranean Press, Cemetery Dance and Arkham House are some of the best, rarest publishers to look for in the horror genres, especially signed editions. The ones you have in bags you might want to check for signatures.

A little something about the pc games. Complete for those means they have their small or big cardboard box still. Some came with a manual in them. But just the jewel case with the inserts isnt complete for pc games. for console games just the jewel case with the inserts, disks and manual is complete.

I think most people look for collectibles on ebay before amazon unless its currently available at retail. Another tip is to look for autographs. I have found several, usually biographies.

Joe R. Lansdale is definitely hit and miss. I took my limited edition, numbered, and signed copy of his "A Few Stories More" by Subterranean Press to a local bookshop that buys and sells used books. It was in a box with about 150 other books. They separated it and said, "You want this back?" I said, "Really? A limited edition, numbered, and signed copy." They responded, "Sorry, it's worthless." And I've had a signed copy of his book, The Thicket, on Amazon for sell for about 4 years now, at less than the cover price. No takers. You interested?

Thanks for answering the roaring crowd demand for a book video! I came across a bunch of vintage books a few months ago that were too good not to pick up, so I guess I'll join the "Also selling books on eBay" category. A question: do you have any tips for what to use & how to safely clean older books? Or is there a video on your other channel for this? Musty book smell, look & feel is an aphrodisiac to nerds like me, but perhaps some basic cleaning advice that a customer might appreciate... ?

This is an undeveloped area for me. I use toothbrush on page edges to remove grime and a tiny bit of hand sanitizer on paper towel for non-porous covers. Goo gone to remove stickers.
