I really like the hill up in tray planting method. I love planting in my mom’s old Hole-y galvanized and enamel bowls, etc. Great video. Your new shelves look great too and very functional. You did a great job with them.

Hi, I'm in your area too. I'm starting a garden this this and just saw your KZbin channel the other day. I saw you pulling out your dahlia plants in the other video. I bought some dahlias tubers and potted the other day. I hope they grow

Great information, thank you! I didn’t realize you could use potting soil for soil blocking. I always use Lisa Mason Ziegler’s recipe.

@Jeanne T Lisa Mason Zeiglers receipe is potting soil. She doesn't use seed starting mix for any of her thing's. She says that she goes strait to potting soil bc it has the nutrients in it already that the plants needs. Lots of flower farmers use potting soil right from the start with their soil blocking. Which makes sense to me but to each their own. Less steps to take when potting up.😊

Thank you for this great Video ❤️ sowed delphiniums last Fall for the first time and had the hardest time with germination, just 3 out of I don't know how much made it 😅 but I didn't know that you have to soak the seeds like that first. Will try this tomorrow 🤩💚

Especially grateful for the details on Delphinium! Here in zone 8b Pacific Northwest they are dependable pernnials but I have had difficulty getting them to germinate. I see why now! Will try the paper towel test now. Question: ;WHY do many believe soil blocking is better than a cell tray?

Great video! So much useful info!! I am also awed by the seed growing process. Every time that new life just peeks through the soil, I am thrilled! And then when that tiny plant grows to become a beautiful flower-just amazing-every time. I had been thinking of planting real grass for Easter baskets, so your wheatgrass video came through just in time. I also have an old enamel basin, so I can follow along with your project too. Thank you!

Love the video. I personally would not push the plastic wrap onto the dirt as the seeds need to have air and room to sprout. In the fields were you plant the wheat grass out there is nothing on the dirt. By pushing the plastic onto the dirt and heat plus light creates mold which you don't want. Anyways great job and enjoy the rest of your day.

@@shesamadgardener Definately! I believe I went a little too heavy on the blue plants this year, however, I need a dianthus that does not grow too high: this one tops out at 12” and I got my seeds @Park Seed and it’s stamped “Netherlands”. Got a white variety from “outside pride” - again both perennials in our area (gonna let a patch go to seed to see if it returns but that’s part of the fun).

Don’t buy the “cling wrap” it’s garbage. If you have a Costco near you look for a big white and blue box called Resinite All Purpose Food Film”. That stuff is excellent. Game changer! Great video. 👍

Hello, I did the moist towel method for 4 weeks in the fridge for my delphinium seeds. None of them sprouted in the towel but they quickly germinated once sowed in a jiffy starter kit with pelets. They are under grow light. When should I remove the humidity dome? Thanks
@shesamadgardener
@shesamadgardener 6 ай бұрын
The dome should be removed as soon as 50% of your seeds have germinated. This prevents damping off.

Do you get really hot in your zone 8a? I'm winter sowing a lot of that right now. For me, in the PNW zone 8b, it doesn't warm up for several months. It's so crazy how some zones are the same or similar, but the Temps in different states are very different. Did that make sense?🤣

+Mary Kennedy yes, last summer we have nearly 90 days with no rain and 30 days of triple digit heat. Last year we also experienced a heat wave mid spring which destroyed my spring crops. We are a hot mess over here!
