@pericelsus7 жыл бұрын
It's not lazy to speak in common vernacular, it's the natural progression of language as shortcuts become more common. Even the most formal and proper native speakers (as English is now) can't go back a few hundred years and still understand the language quite as well, because the language has evolved to become more and more fluent, and will continue to evolve.

TheHG12 As a native speaker, I don't notice and don't think of it as informal and I've taught in university contexts. These forms are spoken regardless of context, but aren't written formally. Hypercorrection, and archaicisms are far more noticeable to a native speaker. There are ways of indicating respect in English, although it isn't as important as other languages. Not using, "wanna", isn't one of them :)

It is obvious that europeans prefer the British accent and in America, we use to learn it in the american way. Most of medias (in these areas)are transmitted in american accent, maybe that is why the teacher enphasizes this pronunciation ; nevertheless British accent sounds much easier for us as spanish speakers, even when teaching books most of the time are prepaired with multiple native accents we end up trying to imitate the american accent and feeling embarrassment for having our mother tongue accent.

there is a small "mistake" in example of HAVE TO: we use "havta" to "I". Congratulations on the explanations. I liked very much.

When I have to use want to or wanna, I never know

My advise would be for you to simply use "wanna" during daily conversation with any one who speaks English either here in America, Canada, or England. "Reduced words" as the producer of this video calls it, is the way that the majority of native English speakers use during daily conversations. However don't use it to make a formal speech or presentation in school, at your job or job interview. You can also use it when you write emails to your friends or send them text messages. The word "wanna" is very informal but used daily like some of the other "reduced words" that were provided in the video. If you use the long version "want to" and all the other long version words during conversation, you will sound very robotic and unnatural since people don't really speak this way on daily conversations. It's not wrong to use it but it's not the way people naturally speak unless they are pompous people who want to sound like brainiacs (intellectuals). Again, it's not wrong to use it but it's not the usual in regular conversations. If you write a formal letter, email, resume, or a report, do write the long version words because it's the proper and formal words you want to write or use during a speech or interview. Also keep in mind that some words are written slightly different in Canada and England than here in America which will give you a slight different sound to the words, thereby giving you their accent. Other english speaking countries are Ireland and Australia as I'm sure you know. Hope it helps at least a little bit.
