Ahhh my! I have been married to a Sri Lankan guy for nearly 20 yrs and around the family for 25! I was introduced as a "sweet girl" but I have lasted the distance and been to "Ceylon" twice. Now I can cook a mean curry (anything u want) and make a bloody good pol sambol and salt beef! So ayyyyoor muchumg and God bless!

It is mostly used by females when addressing another person, in a sort of pleading manner. Yes ane, would be just yes with "ane" to address the person. It's like "ane will you be coming?" "ane come". Also, Sri Lankan have a tendency to end questions with a "ne". eg : "That looks nice ne?" Not "that looks nice isn't it?". "She is proud ne?", and not "She is proud, isn't it?" Hope you got my point..

Super stuff machan (as always). As an aside, it might have been better to swap the position of the two videos (i.e. have the 'Sri Lankan' Jehan on the right). Most people perceive the right side of an image as further in time than the left side (as most of us read left to right) so it's more natural to have a 'later' video on the right rather than left.

Mostly just people over 40 or 50 speak like that. And most Sri lankans choose to speak like this. There's also a language mix and it's called "Singlish" where you have a mix of sinhalese and English accents and vocabulary, which causes this kind of speech. And I'm Sri Lankan.
