Dr. Gary Chapman is best-known for helping people discover their primary love language: Physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, and acts of service.
In this broadcast, Dr, Chapman helps parents understand their child’s primary and secondary love language to keep their son or daughter’s “love tank” filled and to strengthen the parent-child bond. Jean Daly joins the discussion to share personal examples from the Daly family.

The Five Love Languages is not new to me, we learned about it several years ago. But today, listening to this interview gave me new insights that I had to pause the video a few times to jot down some notes so that I won't forget about them. Listening to Focus on the Family while I do chores at home has become my routine and has made every little chore I do so much more enjoyable and meaningful, and not a single minute will be wasted. Thank you for what you do, Focus on the Family!

What a wonderful topic! I learned so much about each of my kids & what I can offer to them. Unfortunately I have been providing my needs/love language to them instead of seeking what they need. I will certainly be sharing this with my husband & friends.

5 Love languages 1. Physical touch 2. Words of affirmation 3. Quality time 4. Gifts 5. Acts of service These are true too when we reached adulthood too. My husband helped me with keeping the house clean and with the laundry as we were bringing up our 4 children ( Love language no. 5). He thought he was showing that he loves me but to me, it’s his responsibility as a father / husband to help with all these. My love language was physical touch and words of affirmation . He said that it was not “ his style”.

You write well. I think this is related to me too. I am 38 years old and 15 years of marriage 👫 . It is so frustrating when you don't understand each other's love language .

Raised 7 kids one with autism with no help but lots of “physical touch” 🙄 but he was there and paid the bills 🙏🏻❤️🕊 I am grateful.

Thanks for talking about this important topic.l am a devout Muslim but I am happy to connect with another community of faith.l think we have more in common than we realise.ln today's isolated nuclear families it is so important to link with like minded parents.l am grateful to learn new ways to look at the common issues and would be talking to my daughters about their love language.

The outcome can also be the contrary. You can exercise page by page according to the book the 5 love language towards your child although the outcome can move into the wrong direction. If a child decides in its adulthood to leave all the values of their parents, what can you do than pray?

I initially bought into the love language idea until I realized that everyone is a combination of all five. In other words the qualifiers render the hypothesis meaningless.
@lenagraham2093
@lenagraham2093 2 жыл бұрын
I disagree with your assessment there. Possibly you, or someone you are thinking of specifically is a solid combo of all 5. But in general, most people strongly gravitate/prefer/are bent to one of the 5. Their one is what opens the door to the relationship for that person, and helps them to feel seen and understood.
