Great video and timely! I was just working on a form and ran into this issue. So I do what I usually do...I go to your KZbin site and search for the answer. I found your "Variable" video and discovered "TempVars". Problem solved!!!

This is actually really helpful, considering I was trying to figure out how to consolidate multiple "person" or "license types" into a singular table. This is giving me the idea to have different forms for each "person type" and loading the person type as a default hidden field for each form. I was trying to figure out a way to do this forever. I even asked the forum, but I must not have been explaining myself very well. Know I could use a singular table and have my end user select the person or license type... but I wanted to put it together in a way where it appears as separate databases but everything can come together without having to use some clunky union query.

Yeah when in doubt use a single table and just have a field that differentiates between the different types. I see this a lot people want to take different types of the same thing and make multiple tables out of them. It's just like when people have a spreadsheet in Excel that has their expenses in different years that are different sheets and they try to bring that into Access as individual tables and that's not how it should work. The method that I use is to make a public function that returns the public variable and then using this function as the default value! It is more clear.

They each have their pros and cons and I'll be talking about them in a future video - I wouldn't completely rewrite your database and get rid of all the constants, but moving forward considered tempVars

@@599CD I use my constants a bit differently, I declare them as an integer and use the select case routines to determine which forms/input boxes and buttons must be visible or not.

I've been watching a lot of your Access videos recently. I really like them and they have been a good advertisement for your paid content. I do want to comment however that while your free content has made me want to become a member or purchase some content, the complexity of your memberships and pricing has kept me away. I have gone to your website twice with the intent of buying something. After about 3 or 4 clicks I finally find a price, but then find that it might be discounted with a membership, then a few more clicks to see if I can find a membership price, and before I even get there I have to answer questions about how many courses I want per week... Sorry no, I just wanted to buy something to watch. Respectfully, you need some "BUY NOW!" buttons, or just clearer upfront pricing so one can quickly do the calculus on what works for them so we can get on with watching the stuff.
