Brother, you've made my day. I form stainless steel domes (1.2 mm sheet and 46 mm diameter) but it's one hell of a lot of pumping a 30 ton bottle jack to complete one dome. I form them in two stages - the first just to draw the material into the die and the second operation to form the shoulder at 90 degrees. Then I saw your video. Man, I was impressed. I saw a lot of these things on the internet. Some with less than 1 liter/minute flow up to 16 liter/minute flow. I assume this is air flow, or am I wrong? I will appreciate your input to ensure I buy the correct thing. I will mount the jack upside down eventually. Have a great day and I hope to hear from you.

Hello, Pieter thanks for your comments and questions. The Unit I used in the video is compressed air operated and based on our tests sped up the manual hand pumping operation by three times, 3X (300%). Oil delivery from this unit (and many others of similar size and design) will depend on the pressure generated. for example. at 1,000 psi pressure, the unit will flow 1.0 litre per minute at 2,000 psi pressure the unit will flow 0.85 litres per minute at 5,000 psi pressure, the unit will flow 0.5 litres per minute at 6,500 psi pressure, the unit will flow 0.32 litre per minute at 10,000 psi pressure, the unit will flow 0.16 litre per minute Compressed Air consumption required is 339 litres per min at 100 psi. If you mount the jack upside down unless there are internal or external extension springs it may not retract properly and connecting the pressure hose from the pump to it could prove ......complicated. What you are seeing is the coupling for the airline and the tab that opens and closes the valve. That's how you operate the pump.

Hello. I bought practically the same 50-ton press (from harbor freight). And I want to connect this foot pump INSTEAD of hand pump, i want to unbolt hand pump from press. 1. I will connect high pressure oil line from pedal to cylinder insted of line from hand pump. 2. But there is also small 'Oil backing pipe' going from low section of cylinder to top of hand pump. What to do with this pipe when using foot pedal only? 3. When you press spoon, piston is going up and down few times very fast. How can I lift piston with no hand pump? (because Back oil valve is on the side of hand pump now). Or is this 2 direction foot pedal pump and I can press and lift piston using just one pedal? 4. What air compressor do I need with this pedal to press from 0 to 50 tons? I found some compressors about 20 gal 135psi max. It will be good enough or I can buy something smaller like 8-10 gal? Or even 20 gal is too small? Thanks.

Hi there! I really enjoyed your video and it was nice to see there is something available that will increase the speed of the ram. However, even in the sped up footage, it still looked pretty slow. About how much did it speed up to? 10% maybe? The reason I ask is I was looking at using the same set up but for forging and I would need to do as much work as possible while the steel is hot. This system will provide a lot of pressure but you are correct it will be too slow for metal forging, It is, however, ideal for not only speeding up a hand-operated press but also for freeing up an additional hand to hold and guide the workpiece. Great video showing how simple it can be to add a hydraulic pump to the system. I'm going to add this to my todo list. One question - how do you manage the oil levels in the two reservoirs? Eg. if you use the air pump for most movement and then the hand pump for final pressure, but release all oil back into the air pump, eventually the hand pump will be drained, right? (And maybe the air pump will overflow...) Maybe adding a site glass onto the side of the hand pump will let you keep the oil level at a consistent enough level over time?

Hi Adam yes you have raised some good questions. The simple answer is to have the discipline to turn off firmly the hand pump's load hold valve when using the air over hydraulic pump. If using the hand pump make sure to keep the foot pedal on the air over hydraulic pump in the hold position. Also every now and again keep an eye on your oil levels. Our air over hydraulic pump has an oil level gauge. And as you suggested installing a sight glass hand presses oil supply tank.

Interesting Question, Most bearings don't need more than 1 to 2 tons of force, bigger bearings around 4 inches in diameter maybe 3 to 5 tons. The internal bearing housings on Rock breakers though,.... need lots more between 20 to 40 tons. Seized and rusted Pins on Earth moving Buckets and hitches from 5 to 20 tons and they usually go off with a bang. Straightening bent cylinder rods around 1-1/2 inches in diameter 4 to 8 tons. Hope these answers have helped you, are you trying to decide what press size and capacity to purchase?

Hello, Vishal Yes you can use these machines for forming, bending and stretching steel into bowls but they are still a relatively slow process not a fast hi speed process, if you have a hand pump the air over hydraulic pump will be at least 3 times faster than hand pumping, please remember though that you will also need quite a lot of compressed air to operate the pump.

Hi Raymond thanks for the comment its a good question. Answer, It's up to you, in this video we Tee 'ed into the pressure line above the manual pump so you can use either pump. The only point you need to remember with this set up is that if you use the Air over hydraulic pump you need to have the pressure release valve on the manual pump shut firmly other wise you will pump oil into the tank of the manual pump. Same goes if you use the manual pump make sure the pedal control on the Air over hydraulic pump is in the middle hold position.

Instead of "T-ing" in the air over hydraulic, why wouldn't you just replace the OEM air/hydraulic pump and directly connect the new, larger capacity pump?

Yes good point that is what we have eventually done, (when the manual hand pump finally failed) Please be aware that air over hydraulic pumps require a large volume of compressed air and continuous use of the Air over hydraulic pump will require quite a large air compressor and air receiver.

Sometimes if you have a tricky press job to do that requires you to use BOTH hands to keep everything in alignment or to hold it still and or upright. Using the foot operated pump keeps you, both your hands and your focus on the job.

Hello Mohammed thanks for watching and for your question. You can Increase air pressure to a Maximum of 120 PSI this will give you a little more pump speed and will achieve around 10500 PSI of OIl pressure but no more because the internal relief valve will release any more excess oil pressure generated. As a rule as oil pressure increases oil flow will decrease as more air volume is required to fill the air side of the intensifier chamber to produce a higher oil output pressure. For example with a constant 100 PSI of clean, dry and lubricated compressed air the following pump performance can be expected. at 1000 psi oil pressure oil flow is around 1000 cc per minute at 2500 psi oil pressure oil flow is around 785 cc per minute at 5000 psi oil pressure oil flow is around 475 cc per minute at 7500 psi oil pressure oil flow is around 275 cc per minute at 10000 psi oil pressure oil flow is around 165 cc per minute As you can see the results are almost linear.
