Most of us don’t practice enough, we don’t rehearse enough, we don’t train enough for the day of performance, regardless of the discipline or performance.
We’re going to remedy that by changing the percentage -- by changing your mindset. Ninety percent of your day should be about practice -- preparing for the day when the lights go on and you've got to perform. If it's not, you're focusing on the wrong things.

ABOUT BO EASON
Bo is a speaker, performer, author and trainer who started his career in the NFL as a top pick for the Houston Oilers. Continuing on with the San Francisco 49ers, during his 5-year career, Bo competed beside and against some of the greatest players of his generation.
In 2001, Bo wrote and performed his one-man play, Runt of the Litter, which he performed on Broadway to rave reviews. The New York Times called it, “One of the most powerful plays in the last decade.” Bo toured with the play in over 50 cities and it is being adapted as a major motion picture.
In his quest for excellence on the stage, Bo trained with some of the world’s most brilliant performance and movement coaches, Larry Moss and Jean-Louis Rodrigue. Bo now draws from their techniques and wisdom to coach others to be excellent presenters and storytellers.
Bo is dedicated to helping others tap the power of their personal story and become effective, persuasive communicators. He has privately coached some of the most successful leaders in the world, and delivered his keynotes and workshops to groups such as Advisors Excel, Mass Mutual, Guardian, Protective Life Insurance, Dimensional Fund Advisors, Morgan Stanley, and Young Presidents Association. Bo has also appeared as a guest on shows like Bill Maher, Fox Sports Net, ESPN, The Rosie O’Donnell Show and CNN.

I use to plan and prepare; Use to tell my students, 'Organized work is the sign of Organized mind'. But, today there's no time for planning nor for preparing... Because decisions had to be made fast, accurate and precise; most desired success fetching. When you Practice you become a skilled professional... Not many of us want to be skilled, do the same monotonous job. You got be focused and smart when it needs to, on job, in shoes and listen, see the problem in your mind, reason- analyze, estimate, draw alternatives, then conclude the best for that moment.. I used to say this my students- Fools repeat mistakes but wise man make blunder, once. Nobody is all wise nor all foolish. Just live with out brooding...Everybody fails and everybody make mistakes. World is a Big School it will teach you all that you got to learn. Blessed is that man who eats on time and sleeps peacefully like an Infant in the Cradle. Dare and Live life king size. God bless.

Brian Tracy also mentioned this idea of preparation because no matter how fast you are someone who prepared early enough will get to the destination first or in this case perform better that those who didn't rehearsed enough. i can share my own story here. when i was in high school i represented my school to compete in poster making contest during nutrition month. every night for several nights i will practice drawing what i am going to draw on the competition. 22 students participated from 11 high schools of the entire province. we were given an hour to draw. 30 minutes later i am done. the next 30 minutes is just watching other students finishing their drawing. an hour later, many of them didn't even finish colouring. i noticed that among those who didn't finished actually have a really great drawing worthy of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placer unfortunately they are not finished. those who finished didn't have a great drawing and idea compared with mine. fortunately for me, i finished quickly not only i have a good idea but i finished my work. if i haven't rehearsed many times or many hours for an hour performance i could have fallen into a unfinished-great-drawing category.

There was a famous basketball coach who won the championship in college in the 90s, but before he did that, he looked at what separated the winners from the rest of the field. He said it wasn't passion, it wasn't desire, because everybody wants to win. He said it was preparation. People that won prepared to win. That's what practice is: it is preparation for winning. Practice, that's a great word of encouragement. Practice to be great. Practice to be successful. Practice being what you want to be. The Bible says it another way: "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only and so deceive yourselves."

This is my 2nd comment every youtube, the only other one was on another one of your videos! i have been curious about this principle about "practice". i tend to agree with you. i wonder if there is a bit more for me to add to my paradigm though. Partly because i have been learning a ton, just learning with action towards putting it into practice. Stephen Covey said begin with the end in mind and Brendon Bruchard says he just goes right to the end. Gets the idea, schedules it and then just does it even if its not perfect. and that's the message i have been getting lately: take massive imperfect action and build the plane as you fly. however i know there has to be practice for some things as well. Sometimes you practice to make it perfect and sometimes you just do. What are your thoughts? again, i love the dedication.

You have to have the discipline to make time, erase everything that isn't excellent in your life like bo eason said and make time for that practice and rest. No procrastination, every bit of time wringed out. Pooping? Read a book. Travelling? Finish your taxes. Sky's the limit baby.

It would be helpful to offer some specific examples. It seems this will not work if one has something urgent to "perform." Sometimes I can't afford to practice and train, I just gotta do it. Once the urgent performance is taken care of, I could carry out this plan. But not until.

great idea but I’m a 13 year old girl who has school 8 hours a day so that’s about 60% of my day already gone. My goal is sports related and there isn’t much I can do about my tumbling in maths class. And at home I can’t just stop doing homework to practice because school comes first. So that leaves about 3-4 hours I can practice without jeopardising my school life
