The second one is by far the easiest and quickest to learn. You maintain contact with the stick at all times and run much lower risk of dropping it. Mick Tucker, the drummer for Sweet was a master of that technique in the 70's and 80's.

Something that helped me immensely was spinning the opposite direction first. Just came much more natural. Once you get the rhythm down, the other direction was then easier. Also, minimizing the wrist movement helps once you get the hang of it, though it's still using some

@mstrlstr4 жыл бұрын
Hey! The trick is to not squeeze the stick between the fingers, they should only offer support for the stick. You can try with a pen first, hold the pen the same as a drumstick and rock the tip of the pen up and down, by only moving your index finger. Once you can do this, try getting small circles going with the pen, then try with the stick. Hope this helps!
@pokemondog4 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks! 8 years later your replying to comments your awesome! I will try with the pen. Thanks!

I'm not even a drummer,yet I've got a set of sticks that I can spin fkn fast as,all these ways and more. With both hands too. I know two drummers,who trip out when I show them. I started flicking pens and sticks when I was about 13,just out of boredom,now I'm like a pointless ninja.lol
@dissident13374 жыл бұрын
The first method just changes position of the stick in my hand, it doesn't move beyond basically pointing parallel with my arm. The second method it just flops it around in one direction.
