As a drummer myself, I've seen many different styles of stick twirling, some are mere clever illusions of twirling but YOURS demonstrates the intricate finger moves that the slo-mo brings out!!!

Hey man, love your stuff! I just wanna say the way you busk is very unique and its amazing to see people make music out of "random" items. Something I could recommend for your drumb stick twirling if you don't mind is look into this hobby called pen spinning. The tricks on there could be easily translated to drumbsticks and would look 10x more flashy. Again love your stuff! Keep up the good work!

I'm not sure why I got this in my recommended but I really enjoyed it. First because I used to be in the majorettes (a long, long time ago) and I still do some of this with my wooden spoons (do this before putting it in the pasta sauce...), or with pens. Second because in the slow motion I was imagining your fingers being painted and they would look like a sea animal of some sort. Thank you for making my evening! Nicole

I looked up this video because i was wondering how other people do this, specifically the orientation the keep their palm while doing it. I just learned to do it best with my palm aiming to the side slightly canted rather than up like ive seen other players do it. I also found it interesting that you find its easier to spin towards yourself to set up the next stroke/beat. You mentioned you rise your hand in preparation for the next stroke as you spin towards yourself. I personally find that it feels more comfortable for me to spin away from myself and quickly raise up then down all the while doing the spin right up until just before the next beat. Im no expert at it but i decided to take some time to finally perfect it lately which is partly what sent me down this rabbit hole. Its really interesting what techniques drummers tend to find for comfortable when then are first learning a new aspect of drumming. For example heel-toe vs slide (Heel-toe was significantly more intuitive for me than slide. But i wanted to play both interchangeably so badly that i eventually finally figured out the "feel" for slide. That taught me how important it was, for me at least, to learn every technique rather than sticking to what felt natural. There are grooves i come up with or hear in my favorite songs that I never would have been able to play if i didn't have the slide technique in my arsenal as well. Theres so many more examples of this in drumming and to anyone reading this i highly recommend you get at the very least rudimentarily familiar with every common technique. Moeller, Push-Pull, Matched grip and its three parts that should be used fluidly (German, American and French), traditional grip etc etc. Anyways i sure went off on a ramble this time lol.

Great video, dude! I always got a kick out of seeing Tommy Lee of Motley Crue doing these twirls. He made them look so easy. It's a bit gimmicky, sure, but it fits so well with rock music. Any time a camera was on him, he'd do a twirl between every damn beat. He was the 1980's twirl master. Haha! But seriously, thanks for the video.
