Purchased Fox camo submerge for margin fishing and then see you use it for same reason which really adds confidence. I pre purchased pre made with loop, loop went flat so this video was super helpful. Will just get the spool of it in future now can see its easy. Normally use tungsten rig tube, but find this stuff really lines flat especially over sticks, wood, various "chod" at the bottom especially close in where alot gets washed up. (and no leadcore issues / carp issues) CHEERS

it's the laying flat on choddy bottoms i like it for mate, don't get me wrong, i still use tubing most of the time but in the margins, with no snags, the lead free leader is really good for keeping your line on the deck around your rig. you'll have no trouble with the camo submerge, it's good stuff👍

Have you tried the Nash clingon leadless leader. That's what I'm currently using and I like it a lot
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
no thomas not used the clingon, one leadless leader is pretty much the same as another mate, if i wasn't using silkray, which is actually pretty good, i'd buy the fox version, i actually don't have any nash end tackle although i do like their bait👍
@thomasnelson98043 жыл бұрын
@@MarkCarp yeah I don't rate much of Nash's end tackle either other than hooks and leader. Would you say the silk ray one is the best you've used?
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
@@thomasnelson9804 i wouldn't call it the best mate, i'm of the opinion that they are all pretty much the same, it's certainly no worse than any other brand of lead free. i do like the twister hooks from nash👍

Nice vid mark. I’m not a fan of using a lead code/lead free leader because personally i feel its not as safe as tubing. However it is good to know how to make a leader. I had a nice 17lb 9oz pike the other week. My first ever pike on a deadbait. On a small roach
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
nice one bandit, i'm not a massive fan of leaders myself, for many years i was dead against them but i had a change of heart a few years ago. don't get me wrong i'm still not a massive fan of them but i will use them when i don't think there's any snags. the leader itself is ok but it becomes a real problem if your main line breaks, i'm comfortable with them in snag free lakes but anywhere with weed or snags in the water i tend to avoid them myself. they serve a specific purpose for me too and that's hiding the line when fishing the margins, that's pretty much all i use them for. well done on the pike, deads tend to produce the bigger fish and 17.09 is a very decent fish these days👍🎣😎

@@MarkCarp yea mate. I went to the marina to carp fish with my mate however he managed to convince me to deadbait instead. Glad I did though

@@banditfishing1558 good choice on the day mate, marinas are top areas for carp and pike, hopefully there's a bigger one in there for you👍

@@MarkCarp yea mate, same marina my mate had his 20lb pike from. There’s huge carp in there too. 1 rumour of a 40lber. My dads cousin just bought a boat in there so I get to fish inside the marina soon
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
@@banditfishing1558 briliant mate, that's exactly what you want, it'll put you right in the middle of them and there's obviously more and bigger fish about, good times ahead i reckon👍

Hi Mark, I just started carp fishing and I wanted to ask, if you mix your bait with tap or bottled water, or clean out your bait boxes/buckets with it, do the carp taste or smell it and steer clear? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I heard it from some other anglers and wanted to clear it up.
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
definitely not a stupid question callum but you'll find the answer will vary from angler to angler. I use tap water myself, whenever i've made boilies they are boiled in tap water, i use tap water on my particles too and i've never had a problem with it myself. the only time i've ever used lake water is when i use groundbait and i mix it at the lake. i've heard the stories about tap water but in all honesty, i've used it for years and the fish haven't steered clear of me👍🎣

Hi Mark, unrelated question: having great success with the chick peas (with small pva bag) right now and fishing a clay bottom, so the lead is plummeting into the soft clay, in order to slow the hook end down and also burying i'm considering putting a bit of rig foam in the pva bag, what do you think ?
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
hi john, i'm not sure foam in the bag will slow it down enough, if at all. a lead clip will help because the lead will go in first, a helicopter rig with the top bead a few inches from the lead will keep your rig on top of the clay or you could use a lighter lead, if it's plugging into the clay even a light lead will hook the fish👍 if you're using a full pva bag (not clear) with the lead and bait in, consider using pva mesh nicked onto the hook and a clip or copter lead arrangement instead👍
@johnsaundersorsam3 жыл бұрын
@@MarkCarp Cheers Mark, didn't explain very well already using pva mesh, with just a few chick peas in, I might try a lighter lead, FYI fished the chick pea on 6 occasions now and no blanks, I think it pays sometimes to be a bit different, other anglers on the lake seem "traditional" i.e. boilies, thanks for the reply👍
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
@@johnsaundersorsam ok john, yes you've got choices there then, lead arrangement or a lighter lead, if it's plugging in try 1.5oz, i've used them in deep silt and because they plug into the silt they still prick the fish very well. well done mate, sometimes boilies aren't the answer👍
@robm74733 жыл бұрын
Is it normal to be able to pull the loop undone? If i pull each side of the loop it un ties?
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
yes rob it's normal, you don't pull the loop from either side mate, it will come undone, if that happens you need to re-splice it, as long as you've got a nice long splice it will be fine, the material constricts on itself and the harder you pull the tighter it holds in place👍 some people try to burn it with a lighter or add superglue but i haven't found it necessary, i've not been using these leaders for long, maybe 5 years now?, in that time i've never had one fail on me👍
