Very informative...Mr. Chan....What if i have to make separate worksheets from a single report based on different groups
@launchexcel2 ай бұрын
Good question! I'm actually preparing a video to show how to split an Excel Table into separate worksheets based on category value. Keep an eye out for it, either next week or the week after. It could be what you need.

Excellent...except you were calm while explaining while I was nail-biting. You see when its coding, there is no concept of I am 99% right. Things won't work. I am in that state. I currently have an excel workbook with 20 sheets for easy reference with distinct information. How do I adopt your code. Can you share the steps. Alternatively, can you come up with a reverse situation, where we need a set of such sheets to be consolidated into a workbook. I think it's not possible but with you it's worth a try!. Your explanation is exceptional.

Of course it is possible. You need to find the vba function to read the contents of the directory the files are in, open each file (workbook) separately (by the code) and copy the sheets into the actual workbook. Then save it in a new workbook

With .new programming languages emerging, is VBA not outperformed?
@launchexcel2 ай бұрын
Hi @amadoutidjanely3588! Great question! While newer programming languages like Python and Office Scripts are gaining traction, VBA is a very powerful tool for Microsoft Office automations and building desktop solutions across many applications. It's built directly into Excel and other Office apps, making it accessible without any additional setup, and it excels at automating complex workflows within the Microsoft ecosystem. Python in Excel is a recent addition that allows users to run Python code directly within Excel formulas. This integration enables advanced data analysis, visualizations, and machine learning using popular libraries like pandas and Matplotlib. It’s a game-changer for data professionals working in Excel. However, it does have limitations, such as requiring a Microsoft 365 subscription and reliance on cloud-based execution for Python code, which may not suit all use cases. Office Scripts, on the other hand, is newer and works well in the cloud (Excel Online), but it is still rather limited in its functionality. For web-based Office automation, Office Scripts offers new possibilities but is best suited for simpler tasks at this stage. Ultimately, it’s about choosing the right tool for the job. If you need to automate Office processes quickly and effectively on the desktop, VBA is still the go-to choice because of its wide applicability and adoption. For more advanced data analysis within Excel, Python is now a powerful option. And for lightweight, web-based automation, Office Scripts is worth exploring as it continues to evolve. Hope this gives a clearer picture! 😊

VBA is still the specialized programming language for Microsoft office applications or compatible applications. It is the language to make functions working on a button. It is different from anything like Powerquery or the language for it. That just reorganises data

How to select the right columns ?
@launchexcel16 күн бұрын
This version just exports each worksheet as it is. Do you want to select specific columns within each worksheet and ignore everything else?

I have no idea why don't have the export worksheet button under developer..
@launchexcel21 күн бұрын
The export worksheet button is a custom menu item, it doesn't exist by default. I added it to my Excel ribbon, and you can create a custom menu item for your own macros too.

@@launchexcel ic... sorry, I didn't watch till the end 😛...However, coz I don't really understand the code using. So, when I am try to copy and paste your code to make it, but it is not work. I am not sure if there is something wrong. I know it is very useful on my HR work for leave record. So, I will try to figure it out.. thanks for your great sharing.

@@clarayu1469 no prob, sometimes we get busy 😅 - sounds like you can make use of this for your HR work. Building custom menus on the Ribbon is handy and easy once you've done it a few times. Let me know if I can help further!
