How To Split Images For Instagram / Seamless Multi-Post Tutorial

OKAY: in Photoshop CC 22023 (24.x) the SLICE tool is NOT accessed via the Crop tool. It is a separate tool down near the bottom of the menu, if not visible click on whatever tool is right below the magnifying glass (zoom tool) and select it. I don't know why they did this but that's where it is. And if that doesn't work type "slice tool" in the help menu, not just "slice."

Okay so I figured it out. If anyone is interested in how to do this concept but making the photo taller to take up more space on Instagram, the ratio is 8 by 5. After you crop it using this other ratio, thats usually better in my experience, then you just follow the rest of the tutorial the same.

If you are having trouble finding the 'New Guide Layout' it is probably because you are using an older version of Photoshop, However @DingbatToast found a work around : You don't need to just go to "slice select tool" click on your image to enable the option boxes at the top of the screen. Select "divide" and there you can enter how many slices. Once you have done this, you don't need to "slice from guides" as the picture is already sliced!

If you want to take up maximum space on insta, its better to do 8x5 right so that you can split it into 2 pics of 4x5

when entering the number of columns check that there is no value entered two rows down in 'gutter'. worked for me

Thank you for this! My specialty is taking the photo. When it comes to social media, I'm lost. My photo turned out to be a big filesize and I had to bring the quality down about 50% for it to be manageable. My original was a pano and each file was 14 MB big, and I had to get the quality down to make it upload properly

You can plug in your phone to the computer - send it to a Google drive - use the portal pushbullet app, email it to yourself

The short answer is yes but it does not quite have the same effect as there is a slight delay when swiping. So although it could work; it is very impractical right now until Instagram create an update to fix this
