If you can’t find the Queen, what would you have done. So, would you have shaken all the frames that were removed to make the two splits into the bottom box of the original hive? Then Queen excluder over the bottom box, and place the two splits on top for a couple of days.?

Exactly what I would be doing. I would prepare the bottom box 4 middle frames of brood then empty drawn frames on the side and honey franes on the side of the box. After that I would eyshake all the bees to bottom box and then place queen excluder on top of it. Splits go above the excluder. I usually wait an hour or two and bees would populate the box over the excluder. I will make a video about this method. Thank you 😊
