Hi Lance, great series of videos. Your relaxed attitude and tips make tackling these tractor maintenance and rebuilds much less scary for a novice like me!

Love you're videos, helped me alot when working on my 1954 TE-F20 bought one at first, but the engine was stuck :( I wanted to surprise my little daughter with the Grey Fergie, but that was a huge let down.. So, we went and bought another one, but that one had front axle problems... center bolt bushing and bolt was pushed in to the crank, so we can't even enjoy it, can't push the snow either.. And taking apart these tractors after sitting for a few decades 🙈 Holy frig

It can be a trying experience alright when things are stuck from sitting but heat often helps.

When I split my TO35 this last spring I used one of those $12 Harbor Freight rectangular dollies and stacked wood blocks to support the front of the tractor at the correct splitting height. That worked easy and much less expensive than the Sparex rolling jack sled system (which is quite nice). The plastic clutch pack alignment tool is worth the price! I bought the wrong one (single clutch instead of dual clutch on my tractor) and then 3D printed a CAD model rather than wait another week for a shipment and that worked well getting the tractor back together. One trick I didn't try but saw was getting two 18in long rods threaded to match the clutch housing bell mount, install one on each side to slide the engine along to ensure alignment while the splines engaged.

I will turn a couple of guide studs as we call them for assembly. Any chance of sending the STL file for the clutch aligning tool to bundybearsshed@gmail.com? I have a 3d Printer tucked away and that would be a good little project for it.

Thanks for the vlog. When I split my tractor I had to use a block and tackle to pull it apart as it was stuck hard.

I just recently bought a TE-20 sn 48566 my engine looks different? Mine has Z120A 300 in the casting on the block and there’s some rods on the bottom that I’m assuming is for added support. I guess I’m trying to under stand why mine is different than yours. Thanks from Jason in the 38:41 US in Pennsylvania. I really appreciate your videos and I also own a MF 35 and a MF 50 both are diesel.

G Day Jason, Yes you had the Continental engine, something we didnt get out here, ours is the British Standard Motor Co engine.

Mate, I was stoked to find this vid on YT I just picked up a TEA20 yesterday and the clutch peddle comes out a mile before engaging so I figure it needs a new pressure plate is there an adjustment I can do to reduce the peddle travel before having to split the tractor? Cheers from over the ditch
@BundyBearsShed7 ай бұрын
Yes go a few vdeos layer in the TEA20 playlist. I go through adjusting it.
@waynetaigel65917 ай бұрын
And will that will take that long travel to release the clutchon the peddle back to short travel ?

I have a TE20 with a hole in the bottom of the transmission housing (presumably alumininum alloy). I can get a TO20 bell housing (presumably cast iron?) for a reasonable price. Was watching this to see how much work it'd be. Do you happen to know if the two housings are compatible?
@BundyBearsShed Жыл бұрын
Sadly we dont have the TO20 over here so I couldnt say for sure. With the continental engine I, thinking possibly not but I dont know for sure.
@Encik13 жыл бұрын
Good job. Looks easy with this splitting jacks but I don't have them. In my tea20 clutch is covered by oil from a seal. Also I have a wine sound from the gearbox or rear diff while I ride it. It wines more when I engage lift. Lift won't work. It goes straight up and won't react on lever. Just stays up. Someone was there because I see handmade gasket under the seat.

When you get to doing a video on replacing the input shaft seal, I'd be grateful for any hints on the thickness of the gasket between the gearbox and the input shaft sleeve. My old gasket broke in a million pieces, and when I discovered that it wasn't included in the gasket set I'd purchased (nor in any other gasket set I can find) I'd tossed the bin bag with the pieces. So I don't know the thickness to make a new one, and since it holds one half of a bearing I suspect that it matters or the preload on the bearing will be off... Greetings from northern Sweden.

On the video I chose to disregard mine and use Loctite 151 as I could still feel the shaft was not too tight at all.

Dumb question: are the front and back end of the tractor attached or secured in some way to the trolley jack or they only supported by these jacks? Great series Lance, even then smallest job filmed is priceless! Thanks!

Hi Lance, Another great video. I have watched the whole series. I have a TED20 which was last apart in 1974 (when I was 16...). On my machine the radiator support rod from the radiator to the thermostat has always been missing. Could you send me some dimensions of it so I can make one (I already asked QTS about a spare part and Judy said not available)
@BundyBearsShed3 жыл бұрын
Ill see if I can remember to have a measure but usually if I need to make one it is just 5/16" (8mm) round bar and I sit everything in place and measure between the holed. There should be no tension on the rod it is just as an extra support.
@andrewclarke79083 жыл бұрын
@@BundyBearsShed Thanks for that - I forgot to mention that the machine is 160km away at the property and I cannot get to it during these interminable lockdowns in Melbourne, otherwise I could measure it easily..

Love the vids mate. My ted sometimes just carries on driving when I push the clutch in but not always, is the clutch gone or going?
@BundyBearsShed2 жыл бұрын
Not sure, some times the plate gets oily and that can make it stick and not want to let go.

Great videos. I have a question , is that Sparex starter a 9 tooth or a 10 tooth cog ? , my original TED20 has 10 tooth i have read you can fit after market 9 tooth to original ring gear , is that correct ? Thanks for all the vids they are a great help.
