Can I use a 80 pounds test spider wire for the closed face spanmaster ?

That might be a little thick for a Spincaster, typically they work best with lighter line.

@@HolyDraculaMaggit typically on a spinning rod this reel would sit on top, you really want a spincast rod to pair with it

I haven't, I've heard they don't work well with braid so I never tried.

@@mvboutdoors I respooled my Zebco 33 Platinum with braid and it is awful. Every time I reel a fish in and then recast, the line catches on itself in the reel and causes a short snap cast. I am going to take the braid off and respool with mono or flouro. HTH

It depends on if your looking at the reel from back to front or front to back.

I'm not sure why it would be tangling, make sure there is some tension on the line while reeling.

Can this be spooled with braid?

It's not recommended because it can wear out the pick up pins over time and may not unravel as easy. I'm sure it could be done but may not perform as well.

@MVB Outdoors that'd and you'd likely need to tape it to the spool and good luck with that, could use a backing but again dont know how well a knot would pass through the reel. Im gonna try some 30lb spider braid same diameter as 10lb mono, I simply wanna use braid because I find spincast reels make mono have really bad memory and makes it hard to detect lightbites with a slip sinker rig which is what my spincast setups are dedicated to.

It would be hard to know exactly but some reasons could be too much line on the reel, the line not being caught by the pin, or not threaded through the cap is the right direction.

Maybe sure you put everything back correctly in the right orientation and that you didnt put too much line on the spool.

The new line comes up through the bottom of the cap and comes off the spool in the opposite direction as reeling it in to wind it. If you had any specific questions let me know --

You may have too much line or something isn't seated correctly. Try less line and see if it works. You can test the pins with the cap off to see what its doing.

There are some great visual guides online, it's a very easy knot to learn but I can try to explain it through text. Basically you take the end of the line, cross it to make a loop, then reach through the loop and pull the line back through it. You can tighten the knot by pulling the end part of the line.

If I wanted to use the line that comes with it, I cut it and send in through holes and tie it correct? And could I use all of the line or is that too much? I have the same pole.

Yeah you're good to just thread the line and hook up. It comes with an appropriate amount of line.

Doesn't work! When spooling in the new line it spins around hopelessly twisting even if you have it coming off the new spool in the right direction.

It sounds like the pin wasn't released when spooling, it has to hook the line to start reeling it in.

I fish a lot of tourneys , have two rigged all the time one wacky one ned . I use spinning but prefer spincast to skip under docks ( more accurate )

Why did you hide the string with your fingers when you were supposed to be showing "HOW TO" to tie the string on to the reel? When I try to crank the string on to the reel it just slips, does nothing . I guess I'll keep looking at videos that can show me how to tie a knot that wont slip, damit. Might be easier to go to a restaurant and order a fish. Maybe knot.

Lol this one made me laugh. I didn't intend to hide that, through the comments I see it was a big oversight in my part. If you can look up how to make a slipknot that is what I used. It can slip a little at first but once you get it winding it's solid.

Thanks, I looked up the one for a uni something knot, and tried it along with my own. You could crank all day long, slow, fast. alot of tension or light ,and just slips. @@mvboutdoors

oops! Cross the line, then reach through the hoop to pull the longer end of the line up through the hoop then tighten!
