I have a Chibson Custom deep fake. It’s absolutely incredible. I actually thought I was ordering an unbranded LP style guitar. When it arrived, I was blown away.

Do you have any Gibsons from before KKR & Co. Inc. bought them to compare quality control to what's being made now? I'm under the impression they've gotten a lot better.

I’ve had Gibson as early as the 80’s, they are definitely better but they are so far away from what they should be at the prices they are asking. This Les Paul is 2799.99 brand new, it’s got small issues everywhere.

That wasn't fake mother of pearl it was abalone. sea snail shell.

just eyeball it. they can never get the shape right for some reason, body, headstock, decals

Ironically Gibson prides themselves on quality and strict QA.... But the quality coming out of China looks like it might surpass them soon. You can put a really sweet set of high end pickups in a sub $300 Chibson and get the same sound, and pocket $3000 in the process.

Cool. I don't understand why so many channels buy these chibsons and fix them up, its a no win waste of money, they pay ~$200 then add $400 parts (out -$600) and it has $0 resale value, forever unless you plan on selling it to someone else willing to fork out $600 to break even and thats a sus deal for your time. Even buying a Indo Ibanez Jem Jr is a loss of money on the purchase, but at least it has a legit resell value and you can sell it to upgrade.

Yeah I don’t get that either unless you love the way it looks and feels, but I think a lot of it is people lying to themselves thinking they got something great

I've learned from another channel most chibsons use lead paint on the neck and pick ups soooo yeah waste of money and could cost you your health in the long run.

Many of the LP clones are better, more durable instruments than the originals (for example, Urban guitars made a very nice LP style guitar that's as solid,and heavy, as an anvil).

I guess it depends how you define clone, the ones coming from these backyard shops are definitely not better.

Plus : the nut. Always a giveaway. Grooves cut way too deep. More of a cavity than a groove. Also : no fret binding. Sharp frets. Oh, and they play like sh.t, they sound like sh.t and they won’t stay in tune. Electronics are sh.t, no cleaning up when you roll the volume knob down. Thicker than normal pickup rings Etc

Well they are definitely getting better this one for example has stainless steel frets with ball ends
