How to Spot a Fake Kingston MicroSD Card on EBay

They may look like a bargain being £6 or £7 cheaper, but are these SD cards genuine from these anonymous eBay sellers? The answer is probably not. When I bought my Kingston microSD card the packaging didn't didn't match the one in the description with vital information such as the read and write speed missing. The packaging was very convincing, but having such vital information missing raise my suspicion, and upon contacting the official manufacturer, they confirmed it was a counterfeit product.

I've been looking online to buy a microSD card, preferable 256GB. The crazy thing is, there are so many sellers even on sites like Lazada and Shopee that sell them very cheaply, like $10 for 256GB!! Right there and then we have red flags. And then they have Samsung, SanDisk, Kingston and even.. Huawei! Take your pick! And here's the sad part: the folks who purchased them posted reviews swearing that they're authentic even if the font used for '256GB' on a Kingston packaging is obviously fake (many folks posted photos)! If you look further though, there are also many reviews saying their files got corrupted but recovered, they only got 8GB usable, etc., obvious signs that they're fake, and yet no one even mentioned that they thought they were fake!! Either the seller removes reviews that say they're fake or people are just stupid or in denial that they got swindled!! Be careful guys, if it's too cheap you know there's something fishy, even if the seller absolutely guarantees their authenticity.

Those dumbfucks who gives 5 star reviews without even knowing what the real meaning of "Authentic". If they see the total capacity of the sd on their phone they will say it's legit even though those fake ass cards only has 1/8 of the advertised size. I wouldn't blame them since most who buy there are not tech savvy.

Is it possible that the original companies selling legit SD cards are in on the scams? Strange that they can easily see fake reproductions of their products selling on ebay but only respond when an ebay buyer asks them for verification.

Im living in malaysia. Counterfeit product are very common here. I can tell genuine or not just by looking at the packaging and the ink prints. Well this is easy to detect on real walk in store, it isnt on online store. I recommend for u americans to just buy on Amazon from authorized seller. Thats ok if its a little bit expensive

actually you can see immediately from the label that it is fake... SD HC supports up to 32GB only... 64GB sd cards are supposed to be SD XC...

Yu,I have sumilar.Never send back, just escalate and report this item. Ebay should then refund. Mine says China on it.Had no card, writing illehible. Again, I knew I was taking a chance. But the seller is a recommended seller.AnywayTime to get it checked. Well later. Good luck getting a real one
