This is a big reason why me and few others are happy to look up recent comps whenever a big card is pulled on your streams. It helps to have a good idea of what the card is realistically worth, that way if they do decide to sell/trade, they have a reasonable starting point.

I called out DJs breaks on whatnot for doing that . He pulled a Mythical CJ Stroud and kept saying it was a $1500 card . He didn't ban me and accepted the current comp and apologized . So that's an example of a person I want to break with . He's young and looked up psa 10 comps . I explained it's raw and now a psa 10 . Good kid .

Card drama is crazy. People get so soft about comps. Especially when you call them out. It's why I stay low. Sure I do videos and PSA reveals, rips, show sales and profit, etc. But I don't immerse myself. I don't edit, I don't hop on IG anymore. All because I don't want any of the bs. Totally agree with your opinion on breakers. I have seen it where breakers hype the value. I’m an older man that used to collect cards from 90 to 2003. Back then I thought 7 dollars a pack was crazy. I returned a few months ago and I can’t believe how boxes go for 500-1000 dollars a box. I do participate in a few breaks. But I will slow to nearly stop doing that. It’s more of a gamble than a hobby. Now I just bid on singles. I watch your show and packman. Thank you for always being honest and your shows being great. Keep it going and Mahalo from Hawaii.

Great advice and tips. I'm only a few months in, and I have seen some shady shit/breaks. But I've seen more legit breakers than scammers so far. I've heard chatter that some of these popular sellers online are weighting cases or hobby boxes and keeping the heavier ones for themselves, which is definitely concerning when spending thousands on a case. I think it all depends on the print run. If there’s 5 in existence (Addison Patch) and 3 get pulled and two of those are in the hands of a set collector. Then literally the player collectors only have 1 in circulation with two possible in packs or under some Panini employees desk 🤣 but I’ve had an Emmitt Smith Patch Auto /10 that was a redemption from 2012-13 Immaculate Baaketball (yes football from a basketball product) I’ve only seen one other copy but I just sold it for $900 plus shipping yesterday after having it up for less than a few hours. Most Emmitt autos sell between $200-500. So like I said it all depends on availability and such.

Backyard Breakers are more than a little shady. They have tried to sleight of hand super high end cards in breaks. Once when the viewers called it out, they pretended it accidently got thrown away. I been with you guys since the start but as a collector for a few years I have no trust in Whatnot because of how shady so many of the top breakers were over there. I have been to a few of yours because I know you guys and that you are honest. The golden rule is trust your gut, if someone seems like a shady person don't get in their breaks and stick with the groups you trust.

I’ve been banned before too from a livestream. They were running auctions and one of the cards ended at like $75 I looked up comps on the card, it was selling for around 50 and then I said that in chat and was banned in like 3 seconds.

Was the host saying it was a $75+ card? If it was an auction that ended at $75, it could've been a couple people in a bidding war that didn't know/care about the comps. I don't blame the host unless they were intentionally pushing people to bid it up. That's different than a card being pulled for a particular person and lying about the actual value.

I feel what you are saying and the guy is out of pocket for banning people for comping cards but I think the card "hobby" is nuts currently because of the consumer... people HAVE to have these cards so people are pranking out and spending money out of body for stuff. It should be on the consumer to know what they are paying for. What else in the world do we buy based off of what somebody says the value is and not do our own research? If I am shopping for a home and i speak directly with the seller and he says his home is 600K when similar homes in his area sell for 200K all day, thats on the buyer. Do some research and stop losing your mind over cards is what I was tell the buyers. Good stuff though!
