The video is a great tool to have in your arsenol. And you have a great gemologist in your toolbox too! You are so very helpful because we want a clear stone but knowing that they rarely come without inclusions, we can mess them up and end up buying a poor qualty or a fake stone. It may even be glass. And if it is that clear, its not emerald. And could be glass. So check it out! So check for all the tell marks that natural emerald's have. And thank you for expertise and knowledge for us! Thank you!

Maybe you can help me out. My field of employment is the fabrication and installment of both, natural and man-made stone countertops/tile, and during one of my 'new construction' installs, as I was walking back into the unit, a stunningly green stone rerouted my attention. Without hesitation I scooped it up. When I returned back to the shop. I instantly grabbed an air polisher then began putting my polishing skills to work. I was blown away by it's shine ability plus how rich and deep it's color went. Very 3Dish accents. Anyways, I'm going to try attaching a picture . Can't seem to find a way so I apologize. Hopefully one day I will figure out if this rock is a precious gem or not. Thank you for your time

I would love to see an identification video for just about every gemstone honestly, identifying stones has turned into a bit of a hobby for me. Would it be possible to do Topaz or Sapphire next? maybe even do the big 4, if you do sapphire, since you would be half done.

I would love a run down on craft store bought jewelry stones;tiger eye, agate, aventurine, carnelian, amethyst to name a few. Are they more slumped *(with glass), are they real stones as a rule? Tips for detecting fake or glass selling as genuine stones? I bought a couple strands here and there over the last couple years and pretty sure what I bought, is real but I do see what looks like could be a slumped type stone-the stones look goopy in tone and texture;greens or black grays | murky. Oh! And pearls from those type places…real? Not real? Pearl powder? Compounds that could look like Pearl but not? Thank you! Your channel is fantastic! I learn so much!!

Yes I have a large size of my hand dark emerald color stone, transparent with light shining through it. Lighter on top darker on bottom. One side is kinda flat with like circle of a food can imprint, one side has tubes straw light straits tubes, and Swirles like a straw like swirl. Very unique, tried the scratch test with scissors not able to scratch it. It is heavy. My Mother in Law gave it to us, it was passed down from her Mother In Law. If it was glass it would scratch.

Great video! You mention that Glass imitating Emerald will likely have chips and rounded edges but emerald's facets and edges will be cleaner, you say it is because it is a 'more valuable material'...the value has nothing to do with the facet edges though...it's actually because emerald is a much harder material and so it can take a sharper facet edge of course...but I know you know this..

I go to pawn shops looking for my favorite blue color stones like topaz. Very common. But so are others like aquamarine. Just by touching a topaz to my skin, I can feel it is much cooler than an aquamarine or glass, I think...is this true? Would a temperature gauge laser detect a change in temp on topaz surface? Love this stuff.

Hi, Gr8 information about emerald. I need a favour. Ive lab certified zambian emerald, its 100% Natural emerald but is this possible if i can send u some clear pics so if u can check and tell whether its emerald or something else. Coz what makes me suspicious about this gem is a feather across the stone and silver lines opposite both sides. Looking forward to hear from you...

why are emeralds so heavily included yet aquamarine or clear beryl are often way less included
@gems
@gems Жыл бұрын
It's a good question that hasn't been settled definitively as of yet. One theory involves the coloring agents themselves, notably the chromium or vanadium causing stress and strain in the crystal lattice as they are incorporated.

Amazing information, what bugs me though is what can be found on the market as the emerald tumble stone, which looks nothing like what I saw on this channel. Are emerald tumble stones real or fake?
@gems
@gems Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the material. We have seen actual emerald tumble stones, often a darker green color, heavily included and possibly with bits of matrix mixed in. Other stones maybe a more common material, like quartz, that is dyed. Look closely for dye concentration in the fractures.
@PhoenixxLight
@PhoenixxLight Жыл бұрын
@@gems Thank you for your response. I saw these tumble stones at different suppliers, and I thought they may be a mix with matrix but the green part, the Emerald is not translucent, it is opaque.
