Honestly, I would like to have a large faceted piece of that selenium glass, and I know that the point of the video was to show how the devices work, but I would have liked them to show how to recognize gems that did not have such marked optical properties, let's say a faceted quartz. aquamarine, very clear minerals with almost zero inclusions and zero optical properties but well in the end I really liked it

Fab video. I love to learn how to use the tools and approach narrowing down what a gemstone is. Very educational! ❤

Seriously....look through sapphire, if it has bubbles its fake, if not, check for silk and you have a sapphire. This goes for most of gemstones. No need for 7 min video explaining all that lol

Hi ~ It is May 17 2024 ~ I AM Grateful for this Indepth LOVING Tribute Info about Moldavite ! A collector of Gems, Rocks, Stones, for many years, I purchased a pair of earrings in raw Hedgehog form about 10 years ago, & a wee ring in raw Hedgehog form set in 925. I also purchased a faceted piece in a 925 setting to wear as a pendant. The Natural Integrity Strength Power these pieces HOLD is definitely Impressive ! Here in 2024, there is alot of information available regarding the "Fakes" and REAL Pieces out in the Market. Your Presentation with BILL IS the BEST video I have watched over the years ~ Thank you so much !! I had to laugh at MYSELF, because I thought these Tektites purchased long ago, might not be real, after all, and the Power they exude might be my ego playing tricks... Well I can see that the ones I have in my care ARE real and I enjoy wearing them and having them in my home. Respect, Appreciation, Peace to You , Bill, and your Circle of Influence ~ ALL Humanity ~ Suse & Crew Vancouver ISLAND BC CANADA ~*~

Even as a British ex-pat, I still find Charles' accent, intonation and speech cadence entirely riveting and fully representative of advanced education, vast knowledge and experience, and disciplined commitment to gemology and teaching. It automatically made me sit up straight and pull my ears back into alignment with my shoulders. 👏👏👏

i'm suprised 'Dyed Howlite' wasn't mentioned more than once as it's such a common knock off these days, loved the pieces from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Utah, they would have been my pick for sure! 💎

1:29 Saying a green gem can't be a sapphire is not correct. I have a box of very green montana sapphires. I suppose the "only blue" is sapphire, argument can be used. As "only red" is a ruby. Being they're all Corundum,,, what should we call a pink, yellow, green or purple? If we want to sell them, (our goal afterall) what sounds better? Pink Corundum? Or pink Sapphire? Too many terms in my opinion, are confusing. For instance,, the words mineral "Growth" and mineral "Formation", are many times used interchangeably. But in my mind, are vastly different. I can "Grow" a flower in a pot. But i must "Form" the pot. Do Diamonds,, "Grow",,, 300 miles below the earths surface. Or were they "Formed"? (like a giant redwood being smashed to the size of a 1ct Diamond) I've yet to get this answered. I love watching,❤, too much. It keeps me from my faceting machine.🫤 💎
