Not just England mate, up here in Scotland they were all over the place too. I still have a couple somewhere that I PAINSTAKINGLY peeled off to put on my bedroom wall. They most definitely are not in mint condition. In fact they are wrecked! We always went for the ones that weren't actually album or single covers as they were the most unique and never seen in any shops to buy.

I bought a definitely maybe framed poster from a charity shop about 15 years ago. I’ve just checked it and it’s fake 🤣 cost me £2.50. Still love it tho

Great video: the micro dots explained by Microdot! Thanks Brian. Re the issue of moiré patterning when rescanning prints - a few years back I saw a great project to restore some 1960s BBC photos which only survive as newsprint copies (in this case from the Radio Times). These were restored by scanning multiple copies of the magazines in question. The screen print dots were in a slightly different position with each copy, so averaging the scans together removed the coarse dot texture & recovered lost detail. That was then the starting point for further cleanup in Photoshop.
