How oasis changed direction from microdot still baffles me. What a mistake that was. The logo is poor and all the sleeves. Microdot smashed it 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@tcaudiobooks7372 жыл бұрын
At least there's some visual differentiation between Oasis' hit years (94-99), and Oasis' shit years (00-09), I'm glad Microdot defined the look of the bands stuff for the former.

Not just your point (though I thoroughly agree) but it all changed when Bonehead and Guigsy left. I was so gutted when Blur 🤮 beat Roll with it to number 1! I think the only ( and there were many) single that beat this was whatever in terms of B- Sides but the album sleeve to Roll with it was bloody marvellous as was all Brian’s work. What a time! ❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸🎸🌞

Absolutely fantastic this video is. I live 40 mins away from Weston beach, been to Weston more times than I can remember. I took the roll with it cd with me and created a then and now shot going back in lock down. It was funny you should say about the weather, when I went there it was also hot and not a cloud in the sky when I took the picture. What I didn't know( now I do) is that you all stayed in the big hotel across from the beach how amazing is that. You learn something new everyday. The Beatles stayed in one of the hotels near the old berbeck pier unfortunately the hotel burned down many many many yrs ago. Love this channel

Fascinating stuff from a golden time - but one request is to hear about how you used to create the washes of colour etc as this is such an essential part of the sleeve x
@Microdot2 жыл бұрын
That wasn't done in post production - it was in the processing of the film, it was 'cross processed' that is to say, negative film was sent through the chemicals used for transparencies - this then distorted the colours.
@RobLawson19822 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I was going to ask the same thing. I also hoped you’d mention on Some Might Say that it was a black and white photo that was hand coloured. Again an essential point in a great cover. I love hearing these tales.

Fascinating stuff! This is my favourite artwork from Oasis’ singles. Whenever I drive along the Weston Seafront I always give a nod to Oasis and The Beatles. Btw, the picture you showed of Weston Pier was of the new pier. The old grand pier, featured in the background of the Oasis shot, burnt down in 2008. The picture you showed of the Beatles on the beach was taken at Brean beach, but they also did a shoot on Weston beach where they rode on donkeys. 👍🏻

@habeascorpus12 жыл бұрын
@@GT380man 'stone age art"???? are you 10 years old?? I suppose you'd call The Beatles stone age artists that recorded on 'stone age equipment' that is highly sort after these days as well as their 'stone age' recording techniques and style that have been repeatedly copied for decades. Despite this 'stone age' style they are still the most influential band in the world. But if you personally prefer to use photoshop or Garageband when recording music because you can't draw or play an instrument then you are actually the unsophisticated primate living in the stone age. Great video, Brian. Thank you. For your interest the pier that is behind the band burned down in the late noughties. The one that you show in the modern pictures was finished in 2010. Did you get any pictures of the band eating their ice creams? I would love to see that. I hope to make it to Microdot one day. Do you let fans try on Liam's duffel coat? Superb video Brian as always. I'd never spotted that water bottle either! I think the warmth of the orange sand and sky is the memorable part of this sleeve, in 95 were you using Photoshop or was it done with a more formative DTP bit of kit? (I'll buy that printer's proof if you ever come to sell :) As a side note, the set they played at Glastonbury was off-the-scale but had heard the MG songs yet so the crowd were a little flat and the gig never gets the credit it deserves. When you watch it back now, the sheer force of the transition from It's Good To Be Free into the opening drums of Morning Glory and the absolute treat it must have been to hear DLBIA for the first time is spellbinding.
@Microdot2 жыл бұрын
The colour was a result of 'cross processing' that is to say sending the negative film through chemicals used to develop transparencies - that distorted the colours to the effect you see. So nothing digital - a totally analogue process!
