I really appreciate videos like this because too many times someone will see something in the "News" and take it as gospel. I run into this issue constantly here in WeHo where locals will hear someone say something and not check to make sure it factual and then start ranting and raving about it when they are completely wrong, but the worst part is they start whipping other into a frenzy and creating an atmosphere of misinformation that is completely unnecessary. Thank for showing how important it is to know you just take the time and do a little research.

I keep coming back to this video. It would be amazing if everyone followed these tips! I love to share this video because of how concisely you present all this info. While I knew a lot of this already myself, I found the different types of biases really interesting, as I'd never heard of those! Keep up the good work, RJ.

An excellent summation of some very valuable techniques for separating fact from fiction. These things are often easier to spot in someone who disagrees with you than someone who agrees with you, and that makes them all the more important to remember.

I would say the main problem with fake news is laziness while also attempting to influential or smart. I would say most people who share news stories which are in fact fake, are genuine in trying to be helpful. But by either not having enough time to research for more information on the topic, will simply post it.

@rib_rob_personal7 жыл бұрын
TheNotAdam It was rigorously ground into us in my high school (graduated 2015, so kind of recent). I suspect people either don't care enough or my school is an outlier. Honestly it's kind of hard to imagine research skills not being brought up at least once in public schooling. I myself fall short and don't fact check from time to time. So maybe it's laziness. Who knows, I'm just speculating. :-P

I could only watch part of this, then I got too infuriated at the state of this country, the media, and President Tyrannocheetus (that's Latin for Tyrant Cheeto btw). The greatest nations and empires this world has seen were not destroyed from without, but from within. America will go down that same road if we aren't careful.
