Hands down the absolute best video on using a spray gun on KZbin!!! This video is soooo much better than the one I paid for on Facebook for the 3m accuspray gun!!!! One question…what was your settings on the compressor? I’m going to make certain to let the 3m accuspray folks they need to watch your video…you put theirs to shame. THANK YOU!!!! I have renewed faith to try to use my accuspray gun tomorrow.

Wow, Sab, not bad. Your popping off over on Mad's channel brought me over to watch you. I call 'em like I see me. Good video. No doubt about it. For anyone starting out, just a great explanation of how to. Great clear video work. Personally, I don't like that gel stain look. And I don't like waiting a day for oil to dry--and it's not really a day, it's more like two days and if you wipe it with a white paper towel after even two days--you''ll still see stain on the paper towel. And I don't like having to use an oil-based topcoat out of a can. Way too expensive and anything out of a spray can is a significantly inferior product. Tips: 1. Instead of gel stain, try diluting water-based paint. 50/50 paint to water and you can go as high as 70% water depending on how much see-through you want. Looks great. Dries in an hour. And you can use a water-based top-coat or wax, same as for the rest of the piece and at the same time as the rest of the piece. So much easier than having to go back and forth between water-based v oil-based products and timelines. 2. Hit your piece with another round or two of stripper, rather than pulling out the scraper and the sander for the remaining splotches. 10 minutes into the 15-minute wait, start rubbing it with the steel wool and you'll get 99.9% of the paint off very easily. It'll save you time, effort, sanding, scraping and gunked-up sandpaper. 3. Try the citrus stripper--yeah, not nearly as powerful and takes 30 minutes--but that 15-minute stuff is so toxic! Both to the skin and to the lungs. I won't touch it anymore. Working on furniture is supposed to be fun and toxic is no fun. 4. Spraying: Narrow that spray pattern by half or more. It'll only take you a couple more seconds to spray the piece and you'll have a lot more control and won't spray half the inside of the piece and you'll eliminate all that overspray around the sides and top. They have spray patterns that are literally an inch. Great for tight, deep ornamentation grooves and the strips between drawers. 5. Spraying the drawers. Have to say, I've never seen it done quite like that. I'd be very wary about touching my freshly painted drawers--one smudge and it's a nightmare. And painting drawers in the box?--really tough to get as good coverage down low and underneath ornamentation and edges. I'm not one for getting down on my knees and painting up. The best way to paint drawers is outside the base. Put a drawer on a round turntable that stands waist-high, so the drawer face hangs over, and hold a thin piece of wood behind the drawer face as you go to block overspray. Some people use cardboard, but make sure it's strong cardboard. You cut the thin wood you hold behind the face to an L shape so you can hold it behind the drawer's corners and hit the corners with no overspray. I have a couple of them, different sizes for different size drawers. It's those corners and edges where paint wears/chips off first. You want the best coverage on the corners and edges. Either that or wrap them. About the same.

I think that is typical. I actually had my gun and compressor for 6 months before I even got the nerve to try. My first few attempts left me frustrated and in tears. I created this video in hopes to help someone else not have to go through that. ❤️

Great job on explaining the gun. I’d like to try and use a spray gun instead of a brush. It seems smoother that way and definitely faster. I watch your channel all the time, I love what you do. Great job on these night stands. I’m glad you removed those things off of the drawers, it made them look more up to date. Great job

Hi Sab, like your videos and learned a lot. My question is I already have a Wagner 2500 paint sprayer for paint and stain. I haven't used it yet. Have you ever tried one of these? If so, or know anything I should know. I cannot get an air compressor and such. Pls.let me know.🙏🎨🎨
@SabsRehabs2 жыл бұрын
I personally haven't but I know a few flippers who have and they liked the gun. Each gun has its pros and cons and all have a learning curve. It took me a couple guns to find the right one for me.

First of all, GREAT JOB! ❤ I have a question that’s has nothing to do with spraying. (Of course!) How do you know if the wooden accents on the drawers can be removed? Can all be removed, I have some pieces with these accents on them that I hate, but I don’t know if I can remove them like you did on this project. It’s probably a common sense thing. 😂
@SabsRehabs Жыл бұрын
Most of them are removable and even sometimes are plastic and not even wood. Only way to know for sure is to try removing them.
@vegasredhead2 жыл бұрын
Why did you choose to use a stripper vs just sanding down to bare wood?
@SabsRehabs2 жыл бұрын
To sand down to bare wood on a finish that thick would be sanding with 80 grit, then 120, and then 220. So, I stripped to save time.
