Great video and a really nice looking result. This is the first VHT wrinkle paint application video that doesn’t use an oven, heat gun or halogen light to cure the paint and bring out the wrinkle. Looks like you have achieved an even, tight wrinkle without heat gun etc. Great results, perhaps letting it cure naturally is the way to go?! I would like to paint an entire Vespa scooter with VHT and your video and excellent results are giving me the confidence to try it out. Thank you.
@TheGerbsteve5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I agree, it definitely came out nice for my first time really pairing anything. Honestly, I used the natural sunlight man and let it dry for 30mins - 1 hr in between coats. Go give it a shot, I have faith in you 💪🏼.

@@TheGerbsteve Thank you sir. I just removed the valve cover and intake manifold. I am doing them both, the intake manifold is being polished and sanded and the valve cover is being painted wrinkle red. When it's done I might share a photo to you if you want to see it! I'm using your videos for a guide of how to remove all of this stuff.

Nice. So didn't need the ultra high heat paint like for the brake calipers? I've been searching for the right high heat paint since I get mixed messages on how high it should be resistant to so figured the engine would also have a similar need.
@TheGerbsteve6 жыл бұрын
I mean, the VHT paint that I'm using is good for 250-550 degrees, so it's technically high heat. Order the paint kit that i used from VHT.

Looks good, I went back and forth on it I wanted to do wrinkle or regular red on my ep3 valve cover, ended up going with regular, unfortunately now paint in the front is oil stained.
@TheGerbsteve5 жыл бұрын
I was either going to do black or red. Mine has some oil stains on it too haha

That came out awesome man!! you could maybe sand down where it is says Honda on the valve cover until you see the sliver that is what I did! or just leave it covered.

Sand blasting ftw! You drive your Civic year round right? Winters really beat on cars all over, glad I'm moving to South Carolina this fall... but then in the 2 years I've owned my FA5, it's never seen a winter. The original owner however did drive it in the winter. As I've modded my Civic I've replaced the majority of rusted bolts and parts, still have a few to go but overall my Civic was in excellent condition because it had barely over 40K miles.
@juanclaudio78216 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Keller lol my car has 13k miles and it's been thru one winter. I just did some exhaust work. the exhaust and bolts were rusted as hell. Thank goodness for impacts.
@johndough276 жыл бұрын
Juan Claudio Damn that's low, mine is 2011. What year is your Civic?
@juanclaudio78216 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Keller well I have a 2017 wrx lol and it's exhaust is rusted. but I used to own a 2012 accord with 70k and let me tell you. That think wasn't any different. Actually had to cut the exhaust.

Damn! That shit turned out nice! Might do that to mine too! Love the video though! So you left the tube seals in there?
@TheGerbsteve6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I agree. You should, worth it. Next, I have to degrease my engine bay. Yeah, left seals in, taped off the top of the chamber holes.
@ShahidR825 жыл бұрын
probably should have covered the pcv and stud holes too. U def got some paint in your oil and a horrible seal on those stud holes no doubt.

Do I need to replace the vavle gasket when installing back ?
@TheGerbsteve5 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the condition of the gasket. If it is torn/leaking, it wouldn't hurt to replace it.

Looks cool I would have taped off the Honda lettering,I'm not hating tho
@TheGerbsteve6 жыл бұрын
Funny that you say that because I was going to do that. Only thing that turned me off of it was that my lettering was shot, all faded and stuff.

Looks good dude! Shit, that's what I forgot to include dude, paint remover. 🤦🏻♂️ my bad bro! That Valve cover was a b****. You should've removed those tube seals, it's a pain in the ass to do because they are so hard but what I did was I came in from the top with a flat head screwdriver and wedged it then pry off. It pretty much bent the tube seals but you're going to replace it anyways so it wouldn't matter. But overall, it turned out real good! 👊😎
@TheGerbsteve6 жыл бұрын
All good bro, i had to buy multiple items to go along with the job. Yeah, I really wasn’t in the mood to mess with the seals haha. Job took me like 4 hrs, just wanted to finish, it was hot out. Thanks for everything though bro, glad you liked the vid.
@hmongamericanlife34456 жыл бұрын
Gerb Productions it took me 8 hrs for mine because I sanded that shit down good but since I funked up, now it's taking another few hours.

u have bake it to give the wrinkle effect. Or at least use a heat gun.. Has no wrinkle at all bro.. ur learnin tho bro so jus do ur research a lil better buddy.
@TheGerbsteve6 жыл бұрын
I used the natural sunlight bro, worked just as good. Takes 2 or 3hrs for the wrinkle effect to appear.
@billydavidson44733 жыл бұрын
He did it correct.The paint is formulated to develope tiny almost microscopic S shaped swirls as it cures.As they develope through chemical reaction they grow and overlap.The only thing heat does is promote the catylist (organic peroxide usually)to work faster.UV light will work..hence sun light.I have done no less than 7.All came out near perfect except the first.It was baked at 200.My research is 35 years mixing polistyrene resin for fiberglass and cultured marble.
