Only someone who does snow removal and ice management understands how hard it is to do this type of work. Not only do you have to pay attention to what your doing so no damage occurs to your customers property and your truck you also have to pay attention to details like how much salt your spreading and the flow of material. It pisses me off when some customers come pay day will be like: oh you had a easy winter this year. Anyhow, I also run the saltdogg spreader I think mine is SHPE1500 the smaller version. Its nice and light makes easy mounting and dismounting and no rust to worry about. Cons it can crack when it gets really cold, plastic gets more brittle, and once salt is wet and heavy it can cause the plastic to crack. I wish I only got the bigger version. Cheers and great video!

I use the vibrator most of the time, so that I can get even coverage. Works really good when the salt is damp and lumpy. I use a 200 lb. Snowex spreader. I leave the speed control on full unless I am salting narrow footpaths.

Brian, We run 2 Poly Casters and after two seasons on them I'm still trying to figure out the best settings. Ive settled on spinner at 4-5 and chain on 4 and driving about 7-10mph and with my feed gate on "closed" (even on closed position the gate is still open about 3/4"). Where do you keep your feed gate open to. Thing that sucks keeping my spinner at 4-5 is it plasters the sides and even inside of these truck beds but it covers a good 8-10ft path.

J and B LawnCare I keep my gate open on the second to third notch for the gate opening for the feed gate seems to work good and I think I get a 8 to 12 ft spreading

u can also open and close the rear chute to depend how much salt comes out, i usually have it at a 3 out of 10. BELT CHAIN a 3 4 usually driveway spread 3 or 4, parking lot wide open, 2 lane road 5 or 6 but i also try and drive as fast as possible. goal is to use least amount of salt possible to get it done

Don’t over spread and use treated salt every time a little of this type of salt goes. you will use around 30-35% less salt over regular bulk salt. Here in MN bulk rock is $105 a ton treated is $125 witch works 100% better than regular salt. Don’t underbid on jobs charge no less than $300 per ton spread.

Also look up brine, and do what works for you. Its a neat setup up north and helps the salting and pushing snow go easier

I personally don't shut it off and on with those digital boxes because there is a delay on the start up. On the older dial style box with out the digital screen I turn on and off frequently.

Wish I had a vibrator on my Fisher poly caster. Prob break the plastic idk.
@andrewstratton806
@andrewstratton806 4 жыл бұрын
Add one. You just have to buy the 80 lb vibrator. It won't crack the plastic. I just added one to my Meyer tailgate spreader and it spreads wet bulk salt with ease. Empties the whole hopper everytime
@jandblawncare8570
@jandblawncare8570 4 жыл бұрын
I added one to one of ours and I only have them use it towards the end of a run, as I understand it and was told years ago its only to keep things from "bridging" and knock the salt off all the sides and walls when it gets low and NOT meant to run consistently. The poly casters run them on the drag chain metal structure and not the plastic. We also have an older DownEaster with one bolted right to the plastic side but it came with 1/8" metal brackets on either side.

Are you sure your not just blowing the fuse. I think they have like minute and a half cycle time. I usually run mine for a minute then shut it off for 20 seconds and then turn it back on.
