The Chrysler 300 owner's manual has the following information what to do if your Chrysler 300 has a dead or broken remote key fob - showing the message Key Fob Not Detected :
In case the ignition switch does not change with the push of a button, the key fob may have a dead
or depleted battery. In this situation, a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put the nose side of the key fob against the Chrysler 300 START/STOP ignition button and push to operate the ignition switch. The key fob may not be able to be detected by the Chrysler 300 keyless-go system if it is located next to a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device; these devices may prevent the key fob’s wireless signal from being detected and prevent the
keyless-go system from starting your Chrysler 300.

With the purchase of a NEW key fob that would need to be programmed, that's not the same as your regular key, that for SOME reason is not detected, correct? That being so, just purchasing a new key fob, you would need to have s/one PROGRAM it @ w/ever the cost is, correct? In o/words, no way around not having it programmed is what I'm thinking. This didn't work I've used this approach a few times. The key fob will lock/unlock the doors and trunk and even remote start the car but as soon as I get in to actually start it it doesn't work. I also put a brand new battery in the fob after it stopped working thinking that maybe that was the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Turns out it was a $1,200 fix. Some relay had blown causing another issue with the onboard computer and the backup camera. The relay and the fob had to be replaced.

One thing I always tell people to check is to make sure the new battery was installed correctly ( not upside down ). If that does not work then there may be a deeper issue with fob or vehicle itself

@@quyncrawford1289, no, it was stolen the next day. What I did not mention is that someone broke a window the night before but didn't take anything. I believe whoever did this had the tools to learn a new key and unlearn my own. They came back the next night after I had patched the broken window.

Won't the car shut off when you put it in gear without the fob being detected? Don't have this car, it's my uncle's. He also said the dealership told him that the reason his car is just shutting off while driving is due to a low fob battery. That's sounds like BS to me and a major safety concern if it's true.
