Been working with my dad since I was kid. Did my house remodel as a helper when I was 11 we remodeled the whole thing has to cut everything out and start all over that was an experience I’ll never forget. Now my dad says we should start a company but don’t know where to start

Hi mate this video is 4 years old so not sure if you’ll still see this, but I am a projects manager and have been for some of the biggest company’s around the uk! Very confident in what I do and am now looking to make the step of my own company, I have a lot of labourers/fitters/supervisors around me that would happily join my team, would you recommend going straight in with what you said in this video or maybe just start by taking on jobs and just supplying labour for a start? And then build on it from there? Hoping you’ll see this 🙌

Insurance is really expensive anymore! We are flooring contractors but I have been trying to get my husband to move into general contracting because many customers complain they want a one stop shop for renovations. So this video is helpful

Appreciate your in-site on starting a business. I have been thinking about it for years but have been skeptical because of the amount of schooling and student loans I have. I believe in RI the total cost budget w/o registration number is lower which hinders the economy. I believe RI is less than 1k threshold. If any one from RI can give me insite that would be greatly appreciate. I don’t want to undersell/oversell myself. Any advisement would help with the confidence aspect.

So I’m in Texas and from my research TX does not require a GC license. Does this mean I’m able to obtain permits/proper coverage from state under an LLC?

Short answer is yes. But there are variables and I am not an expert on that

Check with your locality, our city requires a License, but its just showing proof of insurance and bonding at minimal amounts.

Hey i have some dilemma. About hiring workers. Should i get workers before i ever got a project? Or should i hire when i get a project. The thing is already having workers is i can mobilize instantly, but when i just hire when i get a project i may get pressured or some problems may occur because u dont know if you got workers to wòrk

Hey Mike! I wonder if you can guide me with your experience. I'm thinking to start a Project Manager company as a DBA so I avoid paying the extra LLC fees since I'm just starting. I would be managing construction projects but most of the projects at the moment will be in the range of $5k to $30k. Would it be okay to go with a DBA at the beginning? I have worked for a construction company as a PM for 5 years but I don't feel the necessity to get the GC license at the moment because of the small number of projects I'm currently getting (Doing this business as a side job). Not sure but where I applied for my application i went with an s-Corp so my company gets taxed and I determine my salary and get taxed separate so if I only make 20k I get taxed on that but my company makes 500k I get taxed threw my company after all my expenses

llc is cheaper and faster to set up. Later on once youre established and making money you can incorporate.

From my understanding an llc only gets taxed once on the corporate level and an s corp gets taxed on the corporate level and personal level. However, I believe there are more things you can write off with an s corp and it is better for companies that's planning on going public. Other than that, I don't see any merit for a smaller company to go s corp. With that said, my cpa told me to go s corp for some reason. He wanted $250 per half hour for consulation and I just didn't have the funds to do so.
